International blog between China and the UK. Day 7 – Farewell to the Orient…. We visited the traditional Chinese Hutongs, and the students from St Bedes took Rickshaw rides through the streets while us Burnsiders went shopping in the little shops. We then met up again and went for a traditional Chinese home-cooked meal in a local families house. It was without a doubt the best Chinese meal we have eaten all holiday! We spend all afternoon there and it seems like everybody had a lovely time shopping.

International blog between China and the UK. Well day 2 been a very eventful day. It started off with a rather interesting breakfast (chow mein and fried rice! And some wierd choices such as a bowl of fried skin and chicken paste. We then headed out for a busy day ahead. Next it was the Forbidden City. We found out that it has exactly 9999.5 rooms. Next it was the Summer Palace where we walked through the longest corridor in the world. Followed by ice creams and dragon boat ride. Will check in tomorrow!

Arrived safely this morning after a pleasant flight in which Emily managed to score a goal mid-flight and entertaining check-in , students faces were brilliant as there passport photo’s were carefully scrutinized by imigration officials. Having gathered a number of amusing photo’s showing the effects of the jet lag, we checked into the hotel and then visited the Lama Temple. Filed under: China 2012.

International blog between China and the UK. Day 6 – discovering new food…. We have said goodbye to the luxury of Hebei Century Hotel and have headed back into Beijing. Mr Hughes even managed to find his favourite Red Bull at the service station. We then stopped off at a local restaurant and were given 8 different types of Chinese dumplings. International blog between China and the UK. Day 4: The journey across China…. Today was the journey to Hebei Province on the coach. We all caught up on some well deserved sleep on the way, with Mr Hughes taking full advantage of getting photos of us all asleep! We arrived at the 5 star Hebei Century Hotel in true celebrity style. We were greeted by people taking our photograph and hotel staff were carrying our suitcases for us. Mrs Elliott felt right at home with the thrones in the lobby area!
