Volunteer's Dakshinayan: March 2011
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 22, 2011. I was lucky enough to spend a month volunteering at Dakshaniyan in January 2011 with my friend Renne. Trying to put into words my experience at the project is actually more challenging than I thought; I don't think I will really be able to capture the effect that the place had on me. Their enthusiasm to learn is what motivates you every day and I miss their smiles and laughter that radiated around the school when they were there. The month at the project was a very interesting in...

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: Philip Auinger - Austria
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2011/06/philip-auinger-austria.html
Monday, June 27, 2011. Philip Auinger - Austria. After almost two months, I finally found the time to write about my experience at Dakshinayan in April 2011. Since I returned, I have been asked many times if I enjoyed the project and could recommend it. During the first few days, I kept answering that I would have preferred more school work with the kids and less free time. But now I realize that both components are very important for the experience. Drink a LOT. I often drank 4 liters in one day, yo...

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: Couldn't stay away
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2011/03/couldnt-stay-away.html
Saturday, March 12, 2011. Teaching in Class One. Class One at the temple. Dakshinayan also suited me as I loved living the simple life. Being so remote and without electricity is definitely not for everyone and I know so many people that it would drive mad. However I am so happy with the basics - delicious. Celebrations on Republic Day. I could literally talk about the school for hours and am happy for anyone to contact me reneeberkhout@gmail.com. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: Manami Miyamoto - Japan
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2013/07/manami-miyamoto-japan.html
Saturday, July 27, 2013. Manami Miyamoto - Japan. First of all, there have been some changes at the project; many trees have grown, a new building has been built, a western-style toilet is there (! When the students came to school in the morning, however, I knew that those changes did not matter much to me and that children were what I had come for. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Volunteer's Dakshinayan: May 2009
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 22, 2009. Danielle Grindlay - Australia. Dakshinayan…I can’t. Make you realise how amazing it is without dragging your anxious behind along with me…and no-one wants to read about ‘how it changed my life’…SO I guess what I would have liked before I left is someone to annul my doubts…which I will try and do for you:. 8221; Truly comforting. Especially since I found Dak through a random link on a random website. And don’t think that your role is a small one either – you are a teacher...I’m...

Sunday, August 23, 2009. Richard Galletly - UK. T I got involved with teaching the kids and playing with them in the afternoon. I wondered how I’d manage to teach at first, but with a textbook and the. I initially found Dakshinayan due to an interest in devel. Opment economics, and it certainly helped me in this area. If you’re in a similar situation or just wish to ask about Dakshinayan feel free to contact me through Facebook (I’m in the Dakshinayan group). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: May 2010
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 30, 2010. Katherine Mary Kelly (Tak) - Australia. I've been to the INCREDIBLE, AMAZING 'Dak' twice - January 2009 and January 2010. Here is a day in the life of Dak, with a few added tangents along the way. Assembly starts off the day and the national anthem is sang with gusto. The school day is. Challenging. but always. Rewarding. The children are exceptionally respectful, bright little sparks with a colossal. With the worlds beyond them. It gives them a voice. We taught songs like 'Old Mac ...

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: April 2010
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Joanna (Asha) Sturmilowska - Poland. I volunteered with Dakshinayan in February 2010 and I have to say that this was the most amazing experience of my life! I realized that they listen and remember what I was trying to teaching them! So if someone is thinking about coming to Dakshinayan but is afraid that one month will not make any difference than I can tell you otherwise! It makes a great difference! But one of the best days was without doubt Holi. Good luck ;).

Volunteer's Dakshinayan: Jon Walker - UK
http://roldih.blogspot.com/2010/10/jon-walker-uk.html
Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Jon Walker - UK. I travelled to the Dakshinayan project in October 2009, which means it’s taken me a year to pen my thoughts for this blog (thanks for your patience Siddharth! The reason for the delay, aside from my laziness, is the difficulty I’ve found putting the whole Dakshinayan experience into words. Needless to say I had a phenomenal time from start to finish, and I look back on it as one of the most rewarding months of my life. Some random highlights of my stay:. Witne...
