Sunday, 27 May 2012. First job is to make some choices. We got Resene colour charts that Mum sent over from New Zealand to help us make some choices. Then we went to B and Q to check out their selection. We have to finish the outside walls first so we choose some black for a feature wall at the very front of the house. Sunday, 26 August 2012. So far we have two orange trees, one lemon, one guava, one cinnamon, one avocado and 25 banana trees. Saturday, 25 August 2012. We got round to planting some more fruit trees today. The above guava tree was from Jenny Peng's Mum's farm. This lemon tree we moved from our current house. Saturday, 17 November 2012. Travis and Maggie were kind enough to buy us a bread maker. I've never had one before but the whole concept of them is awesome. It has a timer, so you (read: Ivy) just drop all the ingredients in at night and set the timer for what time you want fresh bread in the morning. It mixes and kneads the dough and then starts baking about an hour before you want it. Genius. Apparently you are allowed to open it mid knead to see how it is going. Nuts can get added too. Saturday, 30 June 2012. Well that's wrong too. The balcony railings have been put up. But they are wrong. The railings should be simple straight lines. Ivy almost shat the bed when she saw them. This will probably involve an argument with Mr Lin. He's on his way to the house to have a look and see what happened. Saturday, 17 November 2012. We were in Taipei for a few days at a book show so weren't able to post much about what was going on at the house. Mini Lee finished the front fence. I think it looks great and am wondering why we don't do this style of fence the whole way round. No that is not the final colour for the gate. Some more work done on the garage. The plywood here will be covered with cement boards next week. We had hoped it would be done today but the rain prevented any work getting done.

Monday, 5 November 2012. We have some pretty sweet friends. This was a gift from Jo, Joe, Sarah, Cobus, Jenny, and Mason. It's friggin' awesome. The back folds up to make a chairs or it can be flat like this to lie down. Thanks so much folks! Small dinner party for JP today. We always miss her birthday due to a bookshow in Taipei so thought we'd do something early this year. New couch arrived today. Comfy. Two birds, one oven. Jo made apple crumble. That was awesome too.
