astrojolo's night by night: June 2015

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 16, 2015. In astrophotography noone cares about sharpless pictures. However one of the astronomy catalogs is called Sharpless. It was published by the US astronomer Stewart Sharpless in 1959, and contains 312 objects that are HII regions. Sharpless 112 in Cygnus. Picture has been shot with 200/800 newtonian and Atik383 camera at my suburban backyard. Exposures are:. 18x10 minutes Ha filter. 3x6x5 minutes RGB filters. Tuesday, June 2, 2015. NGC4395 galaxy with annotated area. QHY163M a few m...

astrojolo's night by night: Too many stars

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015/07/too-many-stars.html

Thursday, July 23, 2015. Last night I caught a few almost cloudless moments, and was able to collect first frames using TS130 refractor with 0.79x reducer. The proper distance to sensor has been adjusted, and here it is 50 minutes with M27 Dumbbell nebula:. 1:1 crop at 1.5"/px scale. Collected under about 5mag sky, 10x5 minutes with L filter, Atik 383, TS130 f/7 with 0.79x reducer. Tests are done. Time to work :). July 25, 2015 at 1:12 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). QHY163M a few more pictures.

astrojolo's night by night: November 2014

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Young and old clusters. And carbon star. That is the name of open star cluster in the Auriga. Below M38 there is another small open cluster - NGC1907. About twice as old as M38, but contains only around 30 stars, and is placed in the same distance - about 4500 light years. Heading back up to M38 and then NW just 20', we encounter a third OC. In this little Winter tableau, the very faint Czernik 21. This is a. Smudge of unresolved stars, only just visible to averted vision half.

astrojolo's night by night: Billions and billions

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015/06/billions-and-billions.html

Tuesday, June 2, 2015. There is great amount of galaxies in the Canes Venatici constellation, but NGC4395 spiral galaxy is for example rare catch. Probably due to its low surface brightness. NGC4395 galaxy with annotated area. But today not about this galaxy, because the subexposures are still beeing collected. Apparently close to NGC4395 there is very remote world - SDSS J122645.33 332800.9. Quasar with apparent visual magnitude 20.57mag. It is placed about 12 billion light years away. Nope, no M97 this...

astrojolo's night by night: January 2015

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 22, 2015. Comet to be seen. Has been discovered by Terry Lovejoy on August, 17th 2014. He used 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The comet was these days in the southern constellation of Puppis. Friday, January 9, 2015. Happy New Year - Fireworks nebula. Weather in my location for several weeks has favoured non astro activities. Meanwhile New Year has come, so I would like to present you Fireworks nebula:. And also one thing you need to know about star parties :). Comet to be seen.

astrojolo's night by night: Barnard in red

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015/07/barnard-in-red.html

Thursday, July 9, 2015. Edward Emerson Barnard was an American astronomer. Among many astronomy activities he was also pioneering astrophotographer. He cataloged a series of dark nebulae, known as Barnard objects. This catalog contains 351 objects and was published first time in the 1919. The large, bright area at the picture bottom is the LBN223 nebula. Barnard 343 and 344 in Cygnus. Picture shot with 200/800 newtonian and Atik383L camera. HaRGB composite, 30x10 3x6x5 minutes. astrojolo's night by night: April 2015

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Berenice Marathon - completed. Three April nights, just single 10 minutes shots. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Have stripped hydrogen gas away from all three galaxies, forming gaseous filamentary structures. The galaxies seems to be emerged in the delicate dust structures, these structures are known as Integrated Flux Nebula, and are placed in our Galaxy (see http:/ astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015/03/great-bears-fleece.html. That’s why the background does not seem to be quite flat.

astrojolo's night by night: March 2015

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 30, 2015. I meant to picture IFN (Integrated Flux Nebula) with Great Bear's galaxies, but eventually I pictured galaxies with traces of IFN :) Dark sky in Zatom has been helpful and I managed to gather 10 hours of signal, but it turned out to be not much, and additionally it is a task for dedicated CCD camera, not just a DSLR. But, to the point. IFN nebula in Great Bear constellation - M81 and M82 galaxies at the bottom. Canon camera and 135mm lens. Friday, March 27, 2015. The picture above...

astrojolo's night by night: June 2014

http://astrojolo.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Are two galaxies that weakly influence each other gravitionally. The spiral arms of NGC5033 are warped and this is believed to be result of these interactions. The galaxy has been discovered 1st of May, 1785 by William Herschel. NGC5033 contains Seyfert nucleus that is thought to contain supermassive black hole. The bright emission from the core region is partially produced by the hot gas in the environment around this black hole. Placed 11.6 billion light years away. SDSS J131123...
