Geometry Lesson in the Hallway. I was in search of a patterned wallpaper or a stencil for our tiny hallway for a long time. Unfortunately, I had to nix wallpaper when I realized how much it would cost (yes – just covering one wall is too much money to me! From Beige to Butcher Block. We’ve finished our biggest DIY project to date and I’m extremely happy with the results! Tyler and I picked up the butcher block from Ikea (NUMERÄR in Beech). We opened up and inspected each piece closely in the store. And we got them home safely, despite Tyler looking like he’s about to be decapitated. I think I’m correct in assuming that most people will never see a house without baseboards. The gap between our drywall and tile was a weird, dark crevice that made us uncomfortable for the eight months we didn’t have baseboards or door trim. So I am very excited to have baseboards again! When we moved in, the existing baseboards were serving their purpose and in fine condition — but I really wanted to install taller, more decorative base throughout the house. Colonel Mustard in the Library with a Wrench. Everyone in this house is a book lover and collector, and we’ve all been very sad having our books and comics boxed up for so long. The main reason for the long wait was my dream of having floor-to-ceiling, custom bookcases built for the whole wall. There’s nothing like a built-in bookcase!
