http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Monday, September 29, 2014. Favorite Motherhood Moment of the Week. Weekend at the park. Fall colors peeking shyly from the trees. You and your dad running around the playground. Don't touch the ground or you're automatically it! His smile, his laughter. Your smile, your giggle. Life love excitement peace. Saturday, September 13, 2014. Today I ran my fourth marathon. Though last year's experience. And I did. In a way. This year, though was different. And I was ok with that.

Better When We're Together: October 2014
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Favorite Motherhood Moments of the Week. And they both have to do with my Aliya-biya. Monday, we were running a little late finishing lunch before her carpool came to pick her up. We got ready and sat out on the porch while she finished her fish sticks and ketchup. Then we got goofing around and next thing you know Aliya had sat down IN THE KETCHUP! Good news: we got changed in time to get to school in time. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Boadway-sty...

Better When We're Together: August 2014
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. This summer, I read aloud to the girls every afternoon after lunch. We started with the first book in the Little House on the Prairie series because I loved this series so much as a young reader. To my delight, my girls loved this series too. So much so, that we made it through three complete books! Some afternoons, I'd finish a chapter and they'd beg me to read another, and then another. What are the days of auld lang syne, Pa? But Laura lay awake a ...

Better When We're Together: August 2015

Better When We're Together. Monday, August 24, 2015. Favorite Motherhood Moment of the Week. School may have started on Wednesday, but as we walked home from the Swensen's on Friday night, we felt it still summer. The hour was late, the sun was asleep. The moon and stars were out. The gentle evening breeze was neither warm nor cool; it simply was. And comfortable. A daughter's hand in each of my own, we walked together through the neighborhood that has become our home. Monday, August 17, 2015. My life cu...

Better When We're Together: June 2015
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Tuesday, June 2, 2015. No More Half Days. Last week, my youngest child finished Kindergarten. Which means I finished my last year of kids in school half day. Strange. I was lonely this year with her gone half a day; how am I going to survive next year when both kids are gone all day? Truly this kid is just an all-around A . I'm so proud of her, and the loving, strong, hilarious person she is. Here are some highlights from her last week of school:. Field Trip to the Zoo. Final ...

Better When We're Together: December 2014
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. We went ice skating today. You pushed out onto the ice, tentatively at first. Then more confidently with every stride. Here holding my hand, then holding the wall. And then all of the sudden, gliding out on your own. Away from me with such grace and speed. And my heart cracked;. Realizing how much you have grown, how you need me less and less each day. So proud of your will to try, to do, to pick yourself up after stumbling. Gift of the Magi.

Better When We're Together: I Walk By Faith
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-walk-by-faith.html
Better When We're Together. Monday, May 4, 2015. I Walk By Faith. This past Saturday, my oldest daughter was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a day full of love, warmth, family, friendship and faith. I am truly proud of Della for her decision to follow Christ's example and be baptized. I'm proud of Matt for living worthily to perform the ordinances. I'm proud of Aliya for gracefully letting her older sister take the spotlight for the day. My 11-yr-old nephew pl...

Better When We're Together: June Wrap-Up
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2015/07/june-wrap-up.html
Better When We're Together. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. How can it be possible that June has already come and gone? June brought the end of 2nd grade for Della, and the end of Kindergarten for Aliya. I'm super proud of these little ladies; both got straight 5's for the entire year on their report cards, and what's even better is they grew as students, friends, citizens and people. I saw them work through hard things, make good friends, and contribute in positive ways to their classrooms. To use the space i...

Better When We're Together: November 2014
http://bandmgardner.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Better When We're Together. Sunday, November 16, 2014. But when Dad told me this story yesterday, I saw a whole new side of my grandfather that I'd never contemplated existed. I record the story here, to remind me that people are more than what they seem on the surface; more than just a list of personality traits or professional and community accomplishments. And that love can be demonstrated in so many varying ways. After arriving home, Ralph took the baby calmly in his arms and just held him. It to...
