449 km: Two rocks, no waiting
http://449km.blogspot.com/2014/03/two-rocks-no-waiting.html
Thursday, March 20, 2014. Two rocks, no waiting. Photos courtesy of Patrick. In the gentle landscape between the growing town of Petaluma and the coastline, there is a small, and perhaps mostly forgotten community named Two Rock, CA. Two Rock never became a commercial center, never became the western seat of finance, and in fact the road doesn't even widen as you pass through. Most people can travel along the highway here and never realize they've passed through a town, and never even notice the three.

449 km: November 2009
http://449km.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Chasing the sinking sun. I'm wondering why more people don't plunk the money down for even minimal lights. For. Useful lights at REI. Hell, REI will mail them to you if you can't make it to one of their stores, and no doubt dozens of other retailers. Would do the same. Planet Bike is not the only company making better than adequate bike lighting either. Check out Cateye. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again.

449 km: A Model ride
http://449km.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-model-ride.html
Wednesday, August 20, 2014. It is now April and I've managed to go more than three months without riding a permanent route. That is three months in Winter! And a return via Amtrak. The route first began life as a DART route when The Davis Bike Club. Hosted their first ever DART event in November of 2012. The route morphed into a permanent route later that year and in the coming year it will be a brevet route, part of another SFR double brevet weekend (used mostly to help train up for PBP). It might not b...

Tuesday, April 8, 2014. And mere oblivion, sans teeth . Additional photos by Patrick Herlihy. With a longer sweep of time as a yardstick, perhaps the second most popular brevet. Route for the San Francisco Randonneurs. Is the Russian River 300km, an event and route hosted every year since 2003, and first held as a RUSA brevet in 1999 and there is reason to believe the route was used as a Paris, Brest, Paris. The lead group on the edge of Windsor and we arrived in Healdsburg. On the way toward the Valley ...

449 km: December 2009
http://449km.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Blurring the line between gift and giver. When my son was younger, he seemed perplexed that while he got the whole summer off from school, I still went to work. Wait, what? Did I do that on purpose? I wondered if he thought I just didn't want to stay at home and have fun. "What the heck is up with Tato. I work for (I'm in one of those photos in the link, and I'm sure you can guess which one) . Earlier in the week, there was a request on Grizzly Peak Cyclists.

449 km: June 2009
http://449km.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Guided by tail lights. Can it be an SFR brevet if there isn't a threat of rain? Not worry this time, as there was a 20% chance of rain in the form of isolated thundershowers in the forecast for Davis and Vacaville. Like so many other SFR brevets this year and last, the rain never happened on our 230km overnight brevet. Instead however it was mild all night long, and we enjoyed mostly clear skies with little of the drop in temperature that normally comes with that at night. Numbe...

449 km: It might not be raining up ahead
http://449km.blogspot.com/2014/08/it-might-not-be-raining-up-ahead.html
Wednesday, August 20, 2014. It might not be raining up ahead. Todd, Michael and I finish after Midnight, after 19 hours and 15 minutes of riding. This is the best I've done on this route, and I'm sure the rain added significant time to our day, not to mention the multiple flat tires. Host Club: San Fancisco Randonneurs. Km remaining needed for K-hound: 8,100km. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 1200km: work, family, sleep. Give up one. Cycling (and other) photos. Http:/ chicogino.blogspot.com.

449 km: February 2010
http://449km.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 18, 2010. Endless repetition or endless variety? Store and pick up a few more. Friday, February 12, 2010. Two Rock Valley 200km. When the idea of using the Jittery Jaunt permanent at the basis of a new SF Randonneurs brevet route first began, it was July and the grasses on the hillsides of the Two Rock Valley, and all other valleys were dry, and more brown than anything else. When the idea became fixed and a place on the 2010 calendar was being considered, it was September.

449 km: Boontling can't describe it

Friday, April 25, 2014. Boontling can't describe it. Qualifier in 2007, so there was no second chance.). Where the longest but perhaps not steepest climbing begins over the Boonville-Ukiah road. From early on in the climb riders can look back out over the Anderson Valley, a place rich enough to have it's own language. Host Club: Santa Rosa Cyclists. Km remaining needed for K-hound: 8,500. 449 km: Cycling mileage spreadsheet (using google docs)
http://449km.blogspot.com/2014/07/cycling-mileage-spreadsheet-using.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Cycling mileage spreadsheet (using google docs). Several years back I was looking for a good way to keep track of my annual cycling mileage and a little Googling resulted in finding this website. In the Google Docs spreadsheet I created. The enhancements I've made include the table and chart of average weekly mileage at the bottom of the document, as well as some automatic shading in column A, the current monthly totals column. The weekly total for that week (cell M4). Http:/ ch...
