Day #223, October 8th, 2012: Goodbye Dubrovnik, Cone Of Fries, Sunset. Extra night in the apartment courtesy of Olli’s mother. Lounged around enjoying our solitude and privacy, then packed the bikes, returned the keys, and ended our cycling holiday. First , a return to Old Town for two paper cones heaped with crispy and salty fries—the best we’ve had on the entire trip. Hard climb out of Dubrovnik. Cycling 15,000 miles across Europe Asia to document people food stories. Day #228, October 13th, 2012: Monsoon! Where Will We Sleep? Worked our legs leaving Trebinje. Heat and climb caused sweat to pour down our faces. Reached the top when rain started to fall. Drops, then streams—drenched within minutes. Escaped inside a village restaurant where a group of men stared at us like we were aliens. Very wet aliens. Cycled into Montenegro. Rain stopped long enough for us to get and fix a flat tire. Day #225, October 10th, 2012: More Play, More Laughter, More Friendship. Walked around Trebinje with Ugi. Passed cemetery. Headstones etched with portraits of the dead, their somber faces in rows, the dates indicated lifetimes, short and long. Thousands of stories. Drank coffee near Arslanagić bridge.
