In the end, it was a fight about food that finally drove Maria* from her violent, hard-drinking husband. She’d endured five years of physical and mental abuse, but on that final day in her home she couldn’t bear that her husband was. Wednesday, January 29th, 2014. Interval House changed our lives. What Can I Do? What can I do? Are You In Danger? In 2014/15, Interval House sheltered for 171 women and children. The average age of the 94 children that stayed with us was 5 years old. We offered 143 hours of womens groups to the residents at Interval House. And the families in our shelter went on 38 family outings to places like Harbourfront Centre and High Park. 45 women were served by the Building Economic Self Sufficiency (BESS) Program and Job Development.
