In the Flat: Post Week 4 NFL Conference Standings/Short Slants
http://intheflat.blogspot.com/2009/10/post-week-4-conference-nfl.html
Post Week 4 NFL Conference Standings/Short Slants. After a bye week, I hope you enjoy the return of my Conference NFL Standings/Short Slants as much as I do. Giants (4-0, 3-0, 2-0) - If Eli's out, will this team continue to dominate? Vikings (4-0, 3-0, 2-0) - Brett will be 40 on Saturday, but his arm looks 27. Saints (4-0, 2-0, 0-0) - If Brees and the defense both play well, look out! 49ers (3-1, 3-1, 3-0) - Your 2009 NFC West Champion 49ers. Cowboys (2-2, 2-1, 0-1) - Bad idea: Throw at Champ Bailey twice.

Post Week 6 NFL Conference Standings/Short Slants. Vikings (6-0 4-0 2-0) - Paul Allen: "Another Minneapolis Miracle". Saints (5-0 3-0 0-0) - 48 points against the Giants? Giants (5-1 3-1 2-0) - How much did that. Game feel like practice? Falcons (4-1 3-0 1-0) - A less impressive win than the previous week. Bears (3-2 2-2 1-1) - Cutler really must stop throwing red zone INTs. Eagles (3-2 2-1 0-0) - The Raiders? Cowboys (3-2 2-1 0-1) - A quiet bye week in Dallas could be good. The 49ers a bye week? Jets (3...

Post Week 2 Conference Standings/Short Slants. New York (2-0, 2-0, 2-0) Beating Dallas in their new stadium was big. San Francisco (2-0, 2-0, 2-0) Two division games. Two wins. Watch out! New Orleans (2-0, 2-0, 0-0) So far, the most explosive offense in football. Atlanta (2-0, 1-0, 1-0) They've embarrassed two 2008 playoff teams. Minnesota (2-0, 1-0, 1-0) Two dud 1st halves; two dominant 2nd halves. Green Bay (1-1, 1-0, 1-0) Well, maybe they will have to adjust to the 3-4. Houston (1-1, 1-1, 1-0) Are the...

Post Week 5 NFL Conference Standings/Short Slants. Vikings (5-0 4-0 2-0) - This Sunday's 'Birk Bowl' will tell us a lot. Giants (5-0 3-0 2-0) - If the defense can shut the Saints down, watch out! Saints (4-0 2-0 0-0) - Are the Saints for real? Tune in on Sunday. Falcons (3-1 2-0 1-0) - Matt Ryan is a quarterback prodigy. Bears (3-1 2-1 1-1) - I hope they watched Falcons film during their bye. Eagles (3-1 2-1 0-0) - McNabb nipped those "Kolb" chants in the bud. Ravens (3-2 3-2 1-1) - Their secondary will ...

Feeling a Draft: NFL Draft Chatter: August 2009
http://feelingadraft.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Feeling a Draft: NFL Draft Chatter. 2009-2010 NFL Draft Prospect Preseason Rankings: Running Backs. 1 Jahvid Best, California (5-10, 195). Best is blazing fast, but not a sprinter who just happens to play football. He doesn't shy away from hits and is electrifying in the open field. His athleticism and pure natural talent is second to none. What to Worry About. Similar to C.J. Spiller, he would serve extremely well as a tailback in a two back system. However, I like his prospects of running b...Spiller h...

The Daily Pitch Count: Green For Saint Patrick's Day, Green For Soccer
http://thedailypitchcount.blogspot.com/2012/03/green-for-saint-patricks-day-green-for.html
The Daily Pitch Count. Monday, March 19, 2012. Green For Saint Patrick's Day, Green For Soccer. The torrential rain stopped long enough. Mostly. There were still bursts of hard rain for different periods during the day, but our Saint Patrick's Day excursion to AT and T Park for a soccer doubleheader continued, with plenty of hot chocolate, of course. Mexico soccer fans are great. I have rarely seen the wave done without any irony. Unfortunately, they also like vuvuzuelas. I think I heard Marina cheering!

The Daily Pitch Count. Monday, April 1, 2013. Spring, and life begins again, and a new baseball season rides into town as my daughter gets ready to be born this summer. Having a daughter on the way puts things in perspective: the fact that the Giants have won two of the last three World Series means that I will TOTALLY be relaxed about the outcomes this year and can just enjoy the unfolding narratives. That should last at least two weeks. Here are my thoughts from Opening Day so far:. 5) Yankees are in t...

The Daily Pitch Count: November 2011
http://thedailypitchcount.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
The Daily Pitch Count. Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Dear NBA: Who Are You Again? Oh yeah. There is a professional basketball league above the D-League and the CBA in this country. I had forgotten. So many questions that could be answered, but won't be until if and when the players and owners decide that yes, they WOULD like to make a living from a game: did the Warriors make the Smart choice in changing coaches? Will Coach Jackson make his Mark in the Bay Area? Links to this post. Sunday, November 20, 2011.

The Daily Pitch Count: They Look Smaller On TV
http://thedailypitchcount.blogspot.com/2012/04/they-look-smaller-on-tv.html
The Daily Pitch Count. Wednesday, April 18, 2012. They Look Smaller On TV. When I was growing up, one of my favorite baseball books was Summer of '49. Overexposure makes the whole thing less interesting. The NFL should have learned this lesson. I heard a rumor in Peter King's column for cnnsi.com that the NFL planned to announce the schedule for 2012 as part of a prime-time TV special. Sadly, this was not just a rumor. They actually did it this week. This sort of non-event event gives events a bad name&#...

The Daily Pitch Count. Monday, January 23, 2012. When Sports Don't Matter. 1) Does it seem odd to you that San Francisco is in a tizzy over a yacht race? The America's Cup is coming to the city, and I'm not quite sure whether or not this should be classified as a sporting event. It seems more like an indulgence for the 1%, doesn't it? I have to wonder what the Occupy movement makes of this. It seems likely to be a target, or at least a potential target, if the movement persists until then. Threats agains...

The Daily Pitch Count. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. A Broader View Of Baseball. I was finding myself screaming at the TV on a regular basis, any time the Giants didn't win a baseball game. It seemed natural enough to think that if the Giants were struggling and the Dodgers were having undeserved success, the universe was unfairly out to get me. 3) The Orioles. The AL East is being lead by a team that does not hail from New York, Boston, or Tampa. And they aren't Toronto. That's fascinating. T...In gardening ...

The Daily Pitch Count. Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Reasons Why Manny Ramirez Won't Destroy The A's. So I said the other day that all my interest in Oakland would dissipate if they signed Manny Ramirez. They did not take heed of my warning; strange, because I assumed Billy Beane was a regular reader. In order to cover my bases, just in case the Ramirez signing doesn't ruin the A's season, here are some reasons why it will be successful, or at least not apocalyptic. Links to this post. So there didn't seem...

In the fives... | A blog about the ups and downs of being pregnant with type 1 diabetes!
A blog about the ups and downs of being pregnant with type 1 diabetes! In the fives…. Move baby, move. For the last 2 weeks I’ve dealt with the most debilitating back pain I’ve ever had. It’s like my whole right side is caving in, someone stabbed me with a burning hot poker. and then my leg goes numb (but not my back, blah). I’ve been having trouble sleeping, walking, sitting, breathing… this is terrible. Well, I have this wonderful relationship with my dead pancreas that prevents such events. With all o...

A Life on Shuffle | Observations of the world around me and the music that's playing
A Life on Shuffle. Observations of the world around me and the music that's playing. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. May 25, 2015. During a recent trip to the UK I spotted some signs in London that made me smile and so thought I’d share them with you all. The first one is quite boastful claiming they serve ‘’delectable’ ‘tantalizing’ (oh dear with a z) and ‘sumptuous’ food. Isn’t this rather setting themselves up for a fall? May 23, 2015. This one translates as, house of cheese. M...
