A Growing Sense: November 2008
http://agrowingsense.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 6, 2008. Guinea Took Me Away or Checkpoints and Bumps On the Head. Every shot because of the limited amount of film I had and the cost of developing. Luckily for me, some of my friends took their digital cameras. All these photos are by Alex, Ted, and Tara. Travel in West Africa is a trip in so many different ways. My friends and I met in Kombo, crossed the River Barra on the Kanalai ferry, and traveled to Basse Santa Su which is the biggest town up-country. Rs with bean sandwiches and...

A Growing Sense: December 2008
http://agrowingsense.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 18, 2008. Mom and Dad's Christmas Safari. My mom and dad wondered if I was just making-up these weird stories so they came to The Gambia to have a see for themselves. A day after they flew into Senegal, we got the Car from Dakar. We arrived at the crazy-busy-for-pre-Tobaski-travel carpark early in the morning and began the eight hour trek to The Gambia. The road was long, bumpy, and dusty. The car was cramped and uncomfortable. Mom and Dad were amazed by the travel conditions. My paren...

Kristina goes to The Gambia: December 2007
http://klavcevic.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Kristina goes to The Gambia. Wednesday, December 26, 2007. Since y'all have had Christmas. Already I have started to think about what would be nice to have over here. If you feel the urge you can send me a care package. I have added a section under my photo of things that would be nice to receive. Please feel free to venture off the list as well. My mom has been using the USPS international flat rate boxes (I think they are the best deal she has found). Please send me letters too! Two years starts now.

http://klavcevic.blogspot.com/2008/06/pirogues-mice-pigeon-pea.html
Kristina goes to The Gambia. Monday, June 16, 2008. Pirogues, Mice and Pigeon Pea. I will do my best to bring you up to speed on my life for the past few months. As some of you may know, my personal life back in the states has taken a dive, so I was concentrating on other things for a while. But now I'm back and ready to tell you some stories. The most dramatic item is I (possibly) got pick-pocketed! A pirogue loaded down with vegetable oil in front of the ferry (on a day the ferry was running). Nell bra...

Adventures in The Gambia: Trees For The Future
http://alexthegambia.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-favorite-project.html
Adventures in The Gambia. Sunday, November 22, 2009. Trees For The Future. At the end of the rainy season, we planted over 6,000 trees with over 15 varieties. Another volunteer is taking over the project for next year and making sure the trees are protected from the livestock since during the dry season livestock is left roaming free.
