Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Overcast but bright with lively sea. They must be proud of what they do. The Chefs are very talented and creative. As little food as possible goes to waste (as should be the case). For example, left over roast meats are turned into stews, and left over fajita breads are combined with other dishes to create cheesy type wraps with sweet-corn and peppers. 8217; A humbling moment. Sunday, February 24, 2008. If I'd thought fast enough I would have had a shot of the sun shining out my arse. D'oh! Saturday 23 February 2008. Wind: 19.7 knt at 87 deg E. Directly after the team photo we had a 'sun dog'. The skies were clear and the sun dropped onto the horizon creating lots of opportunities for atmospheric photos. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Tuesday 26 February 2008. Here I am again in the Morrison team photo. This time I looked behind me to check that there were no serial killers or psychopaths. I was glad to see Andy Cheatle and one fully clad Antarctic module. I’d totally forgotten about the Morrison team photo (its the cold that does it) and was lucky that Simon Gill found me digging around on the container line. It’s good to make an entrance. I fly out with 17 others (five Morrison and 13 BAS) tomorrow at 5am.

Yesterday saw a great milestone acheived on site, the only one of the new Halley VI base modules to be clad this season received its final cladding panel after the delays last week due to the bad weather. The panel was lifted as ever by the trusty Mantis crane, ably manned by Austin. The panel really brings into perspective the amazing and somewhat alien shape of the new modules, completing the skin to the steel skeleton of the structure.
