A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Thursday, December 14, 2006. Christmas has sprung in Paris. Actually, it sprang about a month ago, but I couldn't bring myself to document it until it got a little closer to the actual event. Anyway, here are some pictures:. Dancing teapots and baked goods in the windows at Le Printemps. Looking at the windows from the platforms built for that specific purpose. Rapunzel-esque mannequin in the Galeries Lafayette windows. Let me tell you a litt...

Arrivederci, Paris!: September 2006
http://inyoursuitcase.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Saturday, September 23, 2006. Other than that, life has settled into a pretty steady routine. I'm only going to have classes three days a week, I think, which leaves lots of time for wandering around and finding my own little nooks and crannies of the city. I'm still overwhelmed by the amount of THINGS here - how do I choose among six remarkably similar-looking cafés on the same street? Posted by Liz at 5:15 PM. Wednesday, September 20, 2006.

Arrivederci, Paris!: November 2006
http://inyoursuitcase.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Friday, November 24, 2006. Today was maybe the first day since I've been in France that I have really, honest-to-God wanted to be in the US more than in Paris (and on Long Island, too, of all places.). Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday (food! It's only about food! And it was really nice to spend a few hours eating and relaxing with my friends on someone else's tab. So the day wasn't a total loss, I suppose. Posted by Liz at 12:26 AM.

Arrivederci, Paris!: February 2007

A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Sunday, February 18, 2007. So, I've finally done it. I took pictures of most of my host family, except Isabelle, who doesn't live at home, and I can now introduce them to you. So here they are: the family of Comte et Comtesse Phillipe et Véronique de la Cropte de Chantérac, in all their glory. This is Jean, the fils ainé. A 23-year-old engineering student who lives upstairs in the old maid's quarters. He's really much more handsome than t...

A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Wednesday, October 11, 2006. I met the girl I'll be tutoring on Monday, and she's really great - her name's Charlotte, and she's a good friend of my host sister. She's definitely the kind of friend I myself would have had in high school - she's following the language/literature class at lycée, hates math and science, wants to be a 3-D animator, is funny and smart and interesting. I'm really excited to hang out with her. I think that's going t...

Arrivederci, Paris!: April 2007
http://inyoursuitcase.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Tuesday, April 24, 2007. My parents (visible below) breezed into town last week (during my SECOND week of spring break, good choice, France) and brought along a lovely new shiny silver digital camera,. But god damn, is it ever justified. Every doubt I've ever had about this place has been washed away by constant sunshine and blue skies and flowers. I leave you with a couple of extra pictures which I don't have enough text to wrap around.

A young Vermonter's experiment in cultural (mis)understanding. Tuesday, May 08, 2007. Lately, I've mostly been keeping on keeping on, studiously not studying, spending as much time as possible picnicking and dancing and eating ice cream and sitting by the Seine (sometimes all at once! As I possibly can. Posted by Liz at 11:18 PM. View my complete profile. R for Revoluciòn (Molly). I Can See My House From Here! Goings on about town. Return of the image! Im well, you know.
