Kelsey Walker: August 2011

Sunday, August 28, 2011. This diagram was a previous drawing I did to depict the light experienced withing the space of the three main sections of the WAM lobby. This diagram helps to emphasize on the flow through out the building and the feeling one feels when entering the space. One walks in and is automatically drawn into the open center of the lobby and so within this diagram I allowed for the eye to automatically be drawn to that area within the space. Resources: Art, areas to learn. What is a chair.

Sunday, October 28, 2012. Places shape sounds as sound shapes places. Sound is not commonly thought of when first observing the architecture of a space but once one takes sound into consideration it is amazing to see how much sound is influenced/influences a space in relation to the type of architecture. I think, less often we use architecture to alter our sounds as people did previously. Sounds reflect off of stone because hard materials do not absorb sounds just as it does not absorb light. I felt smal...

Design by Monica: September 2013

Monday, September 30, 2013. For this assignment, I worked with Alex Pokas to find spaces on campus that felt spacious, relaxed, had perceptual clarity, and one particular space that felt unpleasant. We chose to sketch the Meditation room, room 401 in the Gatewood Studio, the lobby of the Weatherspoon Art Museum, and a floor of the library stacks.
