Our usual opening hours are. Easter until September 30th. Monday to Friday 10.00-16.30. October 1st until Good Friday. Monday to Saturday 10.00-12.00. The Loss of Man o'war Colossus 1798. Anchoring within the islands, she was caught in a fierce storm on December 10th 1798, and dragged her anchors until she struck the rocks off Southard Well Point, Samson. The Navy declared the ship a total loss, and for nearly two centuries part of Hamilton's collection lay on the seabed.

We recently visited the historic ship HMS Trincomalee. The oldest ship still afloat. Built in 1817 and now in Hartlepool this gave CISMAS members a chance to see a vessel of a similar age to HMS Colossus. We also visited the conservation labs. At York to see the finds we recovered from Colossus last year in conservation. CISMAS visit HMS Trincomalee at Hartlepool - it was almost as wet as diving. CISMAS at the York conservation lab with Ian Panter. Wessex Archaeology visit 2005. NAS Training November 2010.
