Waiting for the Muse. Thoughts and such on children's books and those of us who write them. Wednesday, January 7, 2009. I can't believe I let my blog go for so long! 160;I'm sorry if anyone was looking for more information on Vermont College or low-residency mfa in writing programs-I've let you down. But I'm back now, and my new year's resolution is to be better about blogging-once a week at least. So what will I do for this semester? 160;I think I want to choose one of the beginnings from last semester...

Letting the Chi Flow...: January 2009
http://fleehall.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Letting the Chi Flow. Writing for Children, Creating Videos and beyond! Tuesday, January 13, 2009. The Vermont College of Fine Arts. At first, I wasn’t going to bother my family with attending my graduation, simply because of the travel. It’s not easy to get to Montpelier. No direct flights. Uncertain weather and delays with a six year old… probably not on the favorite list of things to do, especially for my husband. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Exploring the mysteries of the writing life. Wednesday, June 28, 2006. How to get published, part 2: Self-editing "Re-Vision". In part 1 of this series ( How to get published, part 1: You must write something. I stated what ought to be obvious: you have to write something to get published. What's more, you have to write something that is publishable. Question: Which is better? Answer: Whichever suits your goals at the moment. Better answer: Who cares? Books, books, and more books exist to help authors th...

Writerious: Critique Circle - So far, not bad

Exploring the mysteries of the writing life. Wednesday, January 17, 2007. Critique Circle - So far, not bad. There was a time, in the golden long-ago of publishing, when a fresh new author who showed sufficient talent might be nurtured along by a good editor who, in those halcyon days, actually edited. So who helps the author edit the manuscript? Not what they're paid for. So who gets to edit your priceless prose? You do, author. One that I decided to try out and report on is Critique Circle. Letting the Chi Flow. Writing for Children, Creating Videos and beyond! Friday, February 22, 2008. More Reading the World. I’ve been thinking about the many speeches and reunited friends that I came across at the Reading the World conference. Sarah Ellis brought the conference to a close with a “Synthesis of Reading the World.” She marveled and mused on how we all traveled there, by plane, taxi, BART, to gather to celebrate books for young people. (like how we do for our Res! Once Naomi mistook someone&#...
