The European Patent Office has received 235000 patent applications in 2010. This is an increase of 11% compared to the 2009 stats. Interestingly the number of applications originating from Chinese applicants has increased by 54% (total 13000)! Top technology areas are medical technology, computer technology and electrical machinery.
