Day In and Day Out with the Irbys

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys. Friday, August 14, 2015. This is LONG but it's something I want to remember! Not that anyone reads this but me! In January of 2014, Matthew found out he would be laid off at Citi. He was in the first round of many rounds where thousands if people would lose their jobs. Well God knows what He's doing, even when it seems crazy or even impossible. Fast forward to April of 2015. Matthew had STILL not been able to find a job! Matthew ended up getting the job! And he loves it!

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys: May 2013

http://www.irbydugout.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys. Sunday, May 19, 2013. We had made the appointment for an induction on April 26th. I really did not want to be induced again, but Dr. B had us make the appointment just so spaces didn't fill up. He also did not want me to go past my due date because at our last sonogram Luke was already weighing 7 1/2 pounds. Here I am the morning we left for the hospital. I was discouraged because I really thought this time would go much faster. You can see the bruises from the forcepts...

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys: Five Months

http://www.irbydugout.blogspot.com/2013/10/five-months.html

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys. Tuesday, October 29, 2013. I am so late on posting about Luke's fifth month and this post will not do it justice. My six month post will be much better! Luke turned five months old on October 6th. He is so much fun! He loves to smile and laugh, is very ticklish, and watches his big brother all the time. Here are some stats from Luke's fifth month:. Luke is wearing mostly 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers. He is a cute little sleeper, though! View my complete profile.

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys: April 2012

http://www.irbydugout.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys. Monday, April 23, 2012. So, this post is a little late but that's ok. We have been very busy around the Irby home! Here are some highlights from Samuel's tenth month:. He is about 22 lbs now and wears mostly 12 month clothes, although he can fit into some 18 month. Samuel is getting is 5th and 6th teeth (on either side of his front ones on top). They have been coming in for forever and make our little guy pretty upset sometimes! Samuel can also climb our stairs! Sammy c...

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys: Activities with Samuel

http://www.irbydugout.blogspot.com/2013/09/activities-with-samuel.html

Day In and Day Out with the Irbys. Saturday, September 21, 2013. I want to keep up with and remember the activities I do with Samuel during the day so I'm going to post them. I will probably edit this post whenever we do something new. Here are a few things we've done so far. We made a Fourth of July painting with cookie cutters. Cookie cutters are a great way for little ones to paint without getting extremely messy. He loved this! Samuel has played with stamps a couple of times and had a good time.

Work in Progress: June 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 25, 2014. It's very hard to believe half a year has passed. I still feel like I should have a newborn (but I'm very glad I don't! I have loved getting to know our little boy, and I'm looking forward to seeing his personality emerge more and more. It was a lot harder to get a decent picture this month because he kept wanting to eat the chalkboard and blanket. Firsts" from This Month. Jonas, Me, and Hannah with my dad. Darby, Jonas, and Darby's dad. First trip to Auntie Hannie's apartment/F...

Work in Progress: May 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 29, 2014. I can't seem to keep up with posting the books I've read on a monthly basis, so perhaps I'll just do it quarterly or so and only include the ones I really liked. By Christina Baker Kline. Another book club book. This novel alternates. Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingen. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. Tender at the Bone. Ruth Reichl was the food critic for the New York Times. Sunday, May 25, 2014. Firsts" from This Month. He didn't re...

Work in Progress: March 2015

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Jonas - 15 Months. Now that Jonas has passed the one-year mark, I'm no longer writing monthly posts about his milestones. But, I still do want to post fairly regularly so I can remember what he was like at each age. Boy can pitch a fit. He did not want to take a cute Valentine's picture. His beloved Thomas the Tank Engine ball. He loves this book that G-ma and Papa got him for Valentine's Day. When he sees the page with all of the fruits, he begs for berries. An outtake from hi...

Work in Progress: January 2015

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 05, 2015. I know everyone says this, but this year really has flown by! I can't believe we have a one-year-old. I got a bit sentimental thinking about leaving the baby days behind, but mostly I'm really enjoying this new phase. He's so much more fun to play with now. And since he's totally weaned now (hallelujah! First Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time with both of our families together for the big meal. Jonas, of course, enjoyed all the food, especially the sweet potatoes. I'm a displac...

Work in Progress: July 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 20, 2014. Jonas is definitely beginning to make his desires known. He's still a fairly laid-back baby overall, but he has serious grumpy moments. Still, I'd say this is the parenting sweet spot. I know what I'm doing somewhat, we're in a good routine, and Jonas is learning new skills every day. I told Darby that if I could be given children when they were 6 months old, I'd have 10! Firsts" from This Month. Aunt Leila and Uncle Matt. Jonas loves spending time with them. He is really experimen...

Sunday, July 05, 2015. Jonas - 18 months. Cheese, oatmeal ("hatmo"), pretzels ("puh-puh"), berries ("bee-bee"), Goldfish ("shee-shee"), beans, bananas ("nana"), crackers ("tah-tah"). His play kitchen, mama and baby hippo Beanie babies, sidewalk chalk. Making animal noises, saying "knock, knock" while knocking on the table or wall, saying "dump" and squatting down like he's going to jump but not actually lifting off the ground, saying "shee-shoo" if he has a dirty diaper (we have Auntie Hannie to thank fo...

Work in Progress: April 2014

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 27, 2014. This stage with Jonas is really fun. He's responding to us with smiles and giggles a lot more. He's started noticing other babies at church and play group. He's still pretty serious, but he doesn't look quite so skeptical all the time. Firsts" from this Month. First time to roll over front to back. First time to meet his Aunt Tere and cousin Corrie. They were in Abilene for a school event, so he and I got to run up to ACU to see them one afternoon. First bath in the big tub. I...

Work in Progress: 11 Months

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2014/12/11-months.html

Sunday, December 07, 2014. At the end of this month, Jonas made some big leaps in his development. He's now a lot more mobile and is seeming much more "toddlerish." I can't believe he'll be 1 soon. I get a little sad thinking of him leaving the baby days behind, but it's a lot of fun seeing him grow up. First Halloween. He was a lion and looked adorable. I don't think he knew what to make of his costume. Every time I put him in it, he got kind of quiet and timid. Things I Want to Remember. He likes to wa...

Work in Progress: February 2015

http://kjanderson.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 20, 2015. Jonas's 1st Birthday Party. Well, 3 months later, here are the details for posterity. Uncle Matt and Aunt Leila. Uncle Al and Aunt Lea. We had a grilled cheese bar, which was really delicious and fun. And super easy for me. I highly recommend it as a party menu. I just got a bunch of meats and cheeses and provided different topping options (pear, apple, caramelized onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, pesto, bacon, basil, etc.). Jonas was a bit skeptical of his cupcake. Jonas got lots ...
