Uncanny Valley effect (Masahiro Mori, 1970). Februari 4, 2010 · Filed under Rekenen. Een robot die niet op een mens lijkt, vinden we niet eng. Maar we voelen ons niet prettig als de robot erg op de mens lijkt, maar niet helemaal. Dit dal (valley) verwijst naar de daling in de grafiek die laat zien hoe oncomfortabel we ons voelen als een robot sterk op een mens gaat lijken, maar niet helemaal. Echter gaat de empathie na het laagte punt in de grafiek weer omhoog (als de robot helemaal op een mens lijkt).
