Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Saturday's Meeting Postponed to July 25th. Unfortunately, we've had to postpone Saturday's meeting. The Central Catholic Library has just learned of a festival happening in their vicinity on Saturday and have decided it's best to stay closed on that day. We have rescheduled for Saturday 25th of this month, again at twelve p.m, again in the Central Catholic Library. The text for discussion is still the first three chapters of Heretics. Irish Chess Games
Sunday, 17 April 2016. At my sister website Irish Chess History I have just posted an account of the Easter Rising Golden Jubilee Tournament. In the absence of a possible 30 annotated games from the bulletin, I have found a number of game or part-game scores in two contemporary sources - J.J. Walsh's chess columns in the Irish Times and the ICU Newsletter. Four of those are included in my Irish Chess History piece and I give the links to playable versions of those four plus one more below:.

The available history of Irish chess has many gaps in it. The aim of this website was to gather together information on the tournaments that have shaped Irish chess. I want to thank all those who helped me in this task. While research is ongoing, the amount of information obtained now allows me to move beyond a Research Project to establishing a Database of chess tournaments played on the island of Ireland.
