Okayama, Day Three. June 3, 2010. It was nice that the views of Korakoen nor Okayama Castle were interrupted by any surrounding tall buildings. Many bugs make this bridge their home. Back in New York. Returned to New York on Thursday evening, experiencing the strangest of my three “Hey, I know you.” moments from Japan. I think that’s her…she looks awfully familiar…. Just outside the main entrance to the Inner Shrine is a street lined with shops and restaurants selling omiyage (souvenirs) ranging from Ise soba, trinkets, and the largest stacks of akafuku I have ever seen. The towers of akafuku are so tall, the shopkeepers use those poles with the grabby things on the ends to grab merchandise for customers. There’s a rooster that makes Ise’s Inner Shrine his home. He likes to watch the carp swim in the rivers and the little ponds. No photos allowed beyond that torii.

Intelligentsia Coffee in LA. もう２０１１も終わろうとしてますね。今年もサンフランシスコで沢山美味しいコーヒーを飲んだなあ。。♪. ちょっと前になるんですが、サンクスギビングの週末にロサンゼルスに遊びに行ってきました。もちろん観光目玉は Intelligentsia Coffee. ３店舗のうち、VeniceとSilver Lakeにあるお店に行ってきました。 こっちはVeniceにあるお店。想像していたより店内は小さかったけど（行った事がある人の感想からすっごく大きなメガストアーみたいな物を想像していた）とてもかっこよく、今まで行った事のあるカフェの中でもかなり衝撃が強かったです。 こっちはSilver Lakeのお店。どっちのお店も店内も外の作りもすごくこっている。 The House of Brooklyn Rascals. This eve we had one of my favorite Japanese foods - OKONOMIYAKI. This is basically a pancake made of flour, cabbage, shrimp/chicken/whatever (we had shrimp), green onions, onion . and covered with a brown sauce and mayo. Mmmmm.
