Illusions of Grandeur: June 2006
http://dunestrider.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 02, 2006. The morning was beautiful and clear. A faint morning mist rising from the river was rapidly fading, burned off by the bright sun which turned the water into a brilliant shinning highway twisting through the woods. We parked at a wide spot in the road and climbed into our specialized equipment no simple stick, line and hook for this intrepid trio. Teacher instructed us how to set up our equipment and we spread out to individually seek our fishy destiny. Understand that I do not mock...

Illusions of Grandeur: July 2006
http://dunestrider.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 12, 2006. I have enjoyed photography for many years as a hobby and, at times, a business. I even worked part-time in a camera store for al. Most eleven years selling cameras and camera equipment just for the fun of it. Finally, after all those years of film 35mm,. Medium format, AP. S, Disk film, etc. About a year ago I bought my first digital camera. It is a little Nikon Point-and-Shoot with about a 5 megapixel resolution. I immediately fell in love with it. So what did I do? Post about ...

Illusions of Grandeur: November 2005
http://dunestrider.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Everything said by Usul in his comment against my earlier post about guns and the media, is absolutely true, but it doesn’t address my point. Sure, if some shootist takes his gun to the range and blows holes in a paper target all afternoon, it isn’t news; but when a 78 year old woman uses a handgun to defend herself from an intruder intent on robbing and/or raping her, I think it IS news. My real concern is not the specific subject, but is the bias shown by the general media.

Friday, January 27, 2006. Here are a few quotations that I find interesting. Outside of a dog, a book is probably man's best friend; inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.". You are totally incorrect; but I respect your decision to be wrong.". We often think that when we have completed our study of one , we know all about two because two is one and one . We forget that we have still to make a study of and .". Half of writing history is hiding the truth . Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of the Serenity. Four J...

Illusions of Grandeur: May 2006

Friday, May 12, 2006. Everyone has heard (and understands) that old adage Don’t eat yellow snow! Here’s a few other equally important admonishments to ponder:. Never wake a sleeping dog by poking it under the tail with your toe. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t. While it is certainly a good idea to keep yourself healthy, always remember that being healthy is merely the slowest way to die. If you are feeling blue, start breathing again. When you consider taking up a hobby . But in ...
