iron trish: June 2013
http://irontrish.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Some days you eat the hills . and some days, the hills eat you. I was on a roll this year. I paced my races well. I PR'd every distance I raced. I was kicking ass(phalt). And I suppose that meant that it was time for a humbling race - something to bring my back down to earth. And perhaps I'm being melodramatic. ( PERHAPS. I only missed a PR by 16 seconds. (but sometimes that's worse, you know? But I'm getting ahead of myself. My previous races this year ranged from HOLY CRAP IT'S REALLY COLD. I couldn't/...
iron trish: high(est) mileage week and 12 days out and fall running
http://irontrish.blogspot.com/2013/11/highest-mileage-week-and-12-days-out.html
High(est) mileage week and 12 days out and fall running. When I chose Hal Higdon's Advanced I plan and put all the runs on my calendar, I was slightly concerned about fitting in the in the peak weeks. I wasn't worried about the long runs (thanks to a super supportive spouse) - it was the mid week "medium-long" runs (specifically, two 10 milers in one week and a 20 on the weekend) that I worried about fitting in between work/ family/ sleep. I feel good. I feel nervous. I want to run a smart, f a s t.

http://irontrish.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
A woman with a plan. So 2012 is over and we are 7 days into 2013. I'm pretty happy with my running in 2012 but I'm ready to ramp it up a bit in 2013 [because I may be, um, out for a bit in 2014, if all goes as planned ;)]. In 2012, I:. Started off with the Penguin Pace 5k. And just made my goal of breaking 25:00 [came in at 24:59! Broke 50 minutes at t he Presidents Day 10K. And then had pancakes. mmmm p anc akes. Ran the Clyde's 10k. Awesome local race] and kept the same pace. Ran the Potomac Ri. Was ha...
iron trish: July 2013
http://irontrish.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Arbutus firecracker 10k [happy 4th! Happy fourth of the july to the four people who read this blog :). I've run the Arbutus. A few times since 2007. It's always the three H's: Hot. Humid. Hilly. Oh, and the neighbors always have their sprinklers and hoses out. and there is watermelon at the end. so those things are awesome. My friend Pam ran it, too - her first 10K and she rocked it! Checked the weather. Oh goody it's 72* and it's not even 7! Felt comfortable in a. Spoiler alert: I couldn't. Positive doe...
iron trish: Celtic Solstice 5 and the last needed PR
http://irontrish.blogspot.com/2013/12/celtic-solstice-5-and-last-needed-pr.html
Celtic Solstice 5 and the last needed PR. I kind of forgot about this race. I signed up mainly because (1) a few coworkers were running it (team. 2) it's hard to turn down this sweet race shirt:. It says STOP AT NEVER. On the inside pocket. I mean, how cool? And (3), I didn't have a chance to PR the 5 mile this year (previous PR: 40:23, set at this same race back in 2007). It met up with two of my friends/ coworkers at our work at 7:00 and we drove into the city. I'm. L to R: Jen, me, Colleen, Kim. 7:42 ...

IRONic Life: dude
http://ironiclifeblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/dude.html
This is a blog about my life while trying to live a healthy lifestyle, racing triathlons, love, and relationships. Yea, I'll cover it all. It's my thought processes for the world to see while I fully engage in my new hobby that is taking me places mentally I never thought I could go. Tuesday, November 03, 2009. And yes, I will acknowledge that I am sucking every so often so deal with that. Where the hell do people come off questioning my relationship with my man? Do you see my face? I know exactly what k...

On The Road To Ironman: One year already
http://ontheroadtoironman.blogspot.com/2010/11/one-year-already.html
On The Road To Ironman. Monday, November 8, 2010. Yesterday was the 41th New York city marathon, one year ago I was there sitting at the starting line waiting for 10:20 so I could start my first marathon. It seems like it was yesterday, I can't believe how fast life goes by. I hope that everyone who was running the marathon yesterday enjoyed it as much as I did last year. And for all the first timer, keep running, it is such an awesome sport :). Long Course World Championship. New York city marathon.

On The Road To Ironman: November 2009
http://ontheroadtoironman.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
On The Road To Ironman. Friday, November 6, 2009. Vasovagal episode - What the heck is that? Yesterday morning I went for my usual Thursday morning swim with the triathlon club. We are lucky, this week the coach decided to start the practice at 6am, so we can sleep in. When they finally got all my results they told me that finally it was a vasovagal episode. http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasovagal episode. Wednesday, November 4, 2009. New York city Marathon. At the 25th km or so we crossed the 59th street...

On The Road To Ironman: August 2010
http://ontheroadtoironman.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
On The Road To Ironman. Monday, August 23, 2010. The ProBar - Yummy :). Last month my local bike store started selling those bars, I grabbed a couple to try them out as I am always looking for stuff to eat while I am out there on the bike. So far I tried the Fruition Cran-Raspberry and the Blueberry flavor. All I can say is that I fell in love with those bars. They are just right, easy to eat while riding and small enough that you can pack a lot in your back pocket ;). Wednesday, August 18, 2010. After t...
The Journey
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2009/12/rocket-city-marathon-12-december-2009.html
Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Rocket City Marathon 12 December 2009. I arrived in Huntsville on Friday around noon and just kind of hung out until late afternoon. I went over to the expo to get a couple of things and my packet. Bart Yasso was the guest speaker at the carbo dinner that night- what a great guy and speaker. I really enjoyed his speech and am enjoying his book. I ended up with a time of 4:11:11 so I didn’t hit the 3:50 I wanted but those are just numbers. Looking back- this whole trainin...
The Journey: April 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 24, 2006. Recap of week beginning 04-17-06:. The week started off pretty good but ended up with a very busy weekend and no runs. It was a drop back week (of sorts) so I wasn't real worried about getting anything over 10-12 miles in over the weekend, but with the timing of all of the plans for the weekend I didn't get any in. Mon, 04-17: No run. Tues, 04-18: 3 miles. Wed, 04-19: 5 miles. Thurs, 04-20: 5 miles. Fri, 04-21: 6.1 miles (2 mile warm up, 5K race, 1 mile cool down). I shouted back ...
The Journey: October 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 30, 2006. Another good week on the base building and enjoying running. I was surprised at how well my 10 miler went on Sunday. No stops at all- just smooth, easy run. The temptation was there to add a couple more miles because it was feeling so good but I decided to stop with the planned 10 miles and end on a positive note to take in to my next week of running. Mon- 10-23: No run. Tues- 10-24: 3 miles. Wed- 10-25: 5 miles. Thurs- 10-26: 5 miles. Fri- 10-27: rest day. Sat- 10-28: 5 miles.
The Journey: March 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 27, 2006. Due to an overall lack of training, I decided I was going to make this a training run or slightly faster depending on how I felt. I decided that my overall goal would be 1:45. We left for Knoxville mid day on Friday and it took forever to get there. Should have been about a 4 hour drive, but with traffic and a slow restaurant, it took just over 6 hours. We found our hotel and headed to dinner and a relaxing night. The race started and we immediately started up a hill. I though...

The day I was accepted to the Boston Marathon. As the BAA (Boston Athletic Association) makes clear on their website:. ACHIEVING ONE'S QUALIFYING STANDARD DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENTRY, BUT SIMPLY THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUBMIT FOR REGISTRATION. For those not familiar with the process - - Boston sets qualification standards. 0 - 5 group (AKA ME). I was sitting fairly comfortably with a minus 4:04 but it was still sooooooooo nerve racking. No did I need to register on Monday? And then I had to hurry up and wait....
