Ivan's Heroes: Trench2114 Painting Contest
http://ivansheroes.blogspot.com/2013/03/trench2114-painting-contest.html
Friday, March 1, 2013. Cactus Games, manufacturers of the relatively new line of 15mm sci fi figures, known as Trench2114. Is having a painting contest. Here's my entry, a squad of their Panzer Troopers Heavy Infantry. Although Trench2114 has a World War I meets Sci Fi style, I've painted these guys in a more colorful look, because I envision them as the house retinue of some planetary feudal lord. Ivan's Heroes: SAGA Wooden Oaths Games
http://ivansheroes.blogspot.com/2014/09/saga-wooden-oaths-games.html
Sunday, September 28, 2014. SAGA Wooden Oaths Games. We are doing a SAGA league at the FLGS. Players are loosely organized into two teams: Defenders of the British Isles, and Invaders (the latter being mostly Vikings. Yesterday we did a four player game. My ally Pete plays Anglo-Saxons. I had my Anglo-Danes. We were opposed by Matt's Norse-Gaels, and Dave's Vikings. After a random draw for set-up, each pair of allies ended up on opposite corners of the table. Ivan's Heroes: October 2014
http://ivansheroes.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 11, 2014. My Anglo-Danes faced Dave's Vikings for The Confrontation scenario in our SAGA league. I got the first turn, but had a poor roll of the SAGA dice (no helmets, even after using Noble Lineage to re-roll my dice, leaving me with a mix of four Horses and Axes). I decided not to activate my Warlord, because in his Pride, he would have no choice but to charge the Viking leader if I did so. Instead, I moved up his loyal Huscarls to help. Noticing that the turn limit was almost up, Da...

Ivan's Heroes: July 2012
http://ivansheroes.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 25, 2012. DBA War of the Roses Lancastrians (10mm). I started painting these guys about a year ago, in preparation for a War of the Roses-themed tournament at Millenium Con last November. They were only half-finished at the tournament, which probably accounts for my lacklustre performance. I finally completed the army in March of this year. First up are two pics of the entire army:. Another shot of the Exeter lads. Again, in a defensive formation. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I post on TMP...

Warwell's Wargames: 1:1 Scale Wargaming
http://warwellwg.blogspot.com/2013/06/11-scale-wargaming.html
Saturday, June 22, 2013. I have been remiss in posting lately, primarily because I haven't played many games this month. However, last week I engaged in an activity that one could call wargaming at 1:1 scale. Pictured above is a shot of one of the battles at last week's event of the local chapter of Dagorhir Battle Games. In Dagorhir, participants engage in mock combat using medieval-style weapons made of fiberglass and foam. I tried to put an end to the Dragon Lord's reign, but I was defeated. I had som...

Sunday, March 29, 2015. I Save the World, Again. Around Christmas, I mentioned that I was starting a new campaign of Dragon Age: Origins. Yesterday I confronted the archdemon. In the end, I saved Ferelden, and got the girl. I then started my next video game challenge:. Saturday, March 28, 2015. I don't often post about sports in this blog, but I have to tonight. In NCAA basketball action:. Kentucky (#1 and undefeated) 68. Notre Dame (my alma mater) 66. One poster claimed that pre-painted miniatures would...

The figures are from Baccus's American Revolution range. All together there are 15 strips of cavalry, 48 infantry strips, 4 guns with crew, and 4 strips of mounted generals. Here's what happens to unsold figures! Not really. My unsold medievals are heading to Goodwill). I believe these are Patriot cavalry. The class was buil...

Warwell's Wargames: Lily's Heroic Stand
http://warwellwg.blogspot.com/2015/05/lilys-heroic-stand.html
Saturday, May 23, 2015. Tonight we continued our quest. Against Vanestra in Mice and Mystics. This time, our party's goal was to find some information in the Alchemist's lab. After some hard battles, we arrived at the lab. Unfortunately, the enemy was there first - Captain Vurst and 4 elite rats armed with bows. Filch the scamp (e.g. thief) rushed the enemy but was riddled with arrows. Collin used a scroll to slow the warriors but as he rushed forward, Captain Vurst cut him down. We finished the 3rd scena...
