Rob's Ramblings: September 2008
http://blog.irrelevant.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 23 September 2008. SIP, NAT and Speedtouch. I've recently been playing with ENUM for (some of) my VoIP calls, and it struck me that it would be a good idea to let SIP calls into my network in order to allow incoming calls. It would also potentially allow me to connect as an extension from wherever I happen to be, as my phone (a Nokia N95) has VoIP functionality, and indeed already works as an extention while I'm in the house. I'll keep you posted. Posted by rob at 20:51. How to annoy your users.

Rob's Ramblings: May 2008
http://blog.irrelevant.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 May 2008. Almost 3,600 emails over the last 23 hours, the majority being delivery failure messages. Some a* h* e spammer is spoofing one of my email addresses as the 'from' address on their crap. Thank goodness I'm on an "unlimited" package, though how anybody is going to react to seeing thousands of emails eminating from my connection (even if they are all to myself) I do not know. My SPAM folder, emptied automatically after 30 days, currently has 18,137 unread emails in it. Ouch. HKEY LOCA...

Rob's Ramblings: August 2008
http://blog.irrelevant.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 16 August 2008. Asterisk and witheld callers. OK Bit of background. Despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service. We've had a few people call us from witheld numbers lately, trying to sell us things. Normally I'd just add them to the blacklist on my asterisk box, but this doesn't work for anonymous callers. I can't just block all anon calls, as we do get people come through this way that we do want to speak to (mostly family). Option 1 goes to an anouncement, which advises the...

My Bio Blog :]. Question 2:What are the advantages and disadvantages of animal cells only having a cell membrane (Compared to a cell wall found in plants)? January 27, 2007 at 2:17 pm ( Uncategorized. Another advantage is that without the cell wall, animal cells are much more mobile. As for the disadvantages, without the cell wall, the cell once placed in a solution with higher water potential will constantly keep absorbing water until it bursts. With the cell wall like in the plant cell, the cell wo...

http://blog.irrelevant.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 18 November 2008. Our usual night out consists of a visit to the cinema, or maybe a meal out somewhere. for a change, however, tonight we went to see Edward Scissorhands. Rob's Ramblings: April 2008
http://blog.irrelevant.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 26 April 2008. Well I can now state that spilling coffee into a laptop keyboard is not a good idea. Despite being cleaned out quickly, turned upside down, drained, and dried with a hair dryer on low, I can't get the damn thing to work any more. And the trackpad is, at best, intermittant. I'm having to use an external USB keyboard and mouse just to use the laptop now - not quite so convenient any more. Posted by rob at 14:56. Sunday, 20 April 2008. What I Did on My Holidays". Thursday, 12 March 2009. Just thought I'd show a couple of screenshots. Yep that's logging into CCL4 (viewdata BBS) and some random MUD using CommStar on an emulated Beeb. via telnet . Still a little more work to do before it's polished, but so far, it's working. Posted by rob at 08:48. Monday, 9 March 2009. Following talks at Byte-Back I have set myself two tasks to accomplish. Adjust BeebEm's econet support to talk (optionally? Hmm What happens if you are running tcp-over-econet on the emulated B?

Thursday, 26 June 2008. Posted by rob at 23:48. Wednesday, 18 June 2008. OK Seems like my months of correspondance with sky has finally reached somebody who knows what they are talking about. I'll refrain from naming the very helpful chap who phoned me out of the blue yesterday, just in case he gets inundated with support calls, but the upshot is that Sky have given me permission to use a particular work-around for the problem.
