Irreverently Irrelevant: May 2013
http://irreverentlyirrelevant.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 30, 2013. Of Caves and Candles. Reading biochemistry reviews from the perspective of a mechanistic modeler is a unique experience. Imagine exploring a deep and dark cave using a tiny flashlight or candle. You can only see the immediate vicinity of the light and you take tentatively small steps in random directions, recording in your mind everything you see every step you take. This is a steady, conservative and reliable process. Why is the mechanistic literature so insufficient?
Irreverently Irrelevant: March 2013
http://irreverentlyirrelevant.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 25, 2013. Imagine, if you will, a meadow that is green, a sun that is setting and a tree bearing flowers of every hue and fruit of every kind. You sit under this tree, bathed in golden sunlight, admiring each flower and nibbling each fruit. This is a moment you wish would never end. When someone appreciates you, you wonder why. Irreverently Irrelevant: July 2009

Sunday, July 12, 2009. Sitting on a Hydrant with a Coffee. Never give a writer (or a wannabe writer, for the sake of modesty) a cup of coffee/tea and a place to sit and five minutes to ponder. Because then his mind starts wandering and he ends up writing something. Ponder, ponder, ponder! Heil fellow geek, if you get the Pinky and the Brain reference! Links to this post. Thursday, July 09, 2009. Oh How I Wish. At that instant, I wished it was me they were discussing. I wished it was I who had written...

Irreverently Irrelevant: Futility
http://irreverentlyirrelevant.blogspot.com/2010/10/futility.html
Thursday, October 07, 2010. Ever assembled a jigsaw puzzle, especially one of those difficult ones? Or so you think. You reach into the bag for the 100th piece. You do not find it. Your smile fades. There is no final piece. You search frantically, desperately. In the bag, under the puzzle, below the sofa, beneath the fridge, over the shelf, in the trash. There is no final piece. You cannot seem to find it. It is not in your hands. Would you have worked on it at all? Yet, that piece is gone. And you w...

Irreverently Me | Random thoughts of a software geek.
Random thoughts of a software geek. From 0 to 60 with Django on AWS. July 5, 2015. This is a story that grew in the telling. It’s also a story of firsts; my first time using Django, first time using AWS, first time using Nginx…like I said lots of firsts. So let me start at the beginning. NB: The following assumes you’re signed into the AWS web console. So many choices and to be honest the only way to make an informed decision is to read the documentation for the available services. For my requirement...
Irreverently | Short on specialization, long on speculation.
January 30, 2012 · 1:16 am. In Defense of Marie Calloway. Has recently achieved notoriety. As the pseudonymous author of. An autobiographical story about her sexual encounter(s) with a modestly famous New York writer. The original version of the story was first posted on Calloway’s Tumblr, but later retracted because it revealed the real identity of “Adrien Brody.”. From mrstsk.tumblr.com. Doesn’t merit ongoing attention because (some) readers know Brody’s real identity, but because the piece itself is s...
Irreverently Childfree
This blog is dedicated to all things child-free. Saturday, August 9, 2014. It has been almost exactly two years since my last post. I would like to commit a small amount, and gradually work my way up to a larger amount of posts. So, I had a little question and answer session with myself, and I decided that it was a good plan to put my head out there. Here's what that question and answer session looked like:. Q: What if they don't like what I have to say? Q: What if I sound like a dork? Q: And what if I am.

Irreverent Mama
Friday, April 08, 2011. I had a birthday a while back. A milestone birthday, in that it ended with a zero. Bah Hell with it. I got a clean cup and dropped a tea-bag in, just as the microwave beeped. (Timing! And when I opened the microwave door. There was the cup I'd been looking for. Full of tea. Hot tea. A full cup of tea, which I'd been re-heating, as I'd left it steeping on the stovetop a little too long, and it had gotten a little cooler than I prefer. Steeping, because I'd made it, as I always.

Being a gay second mom is hard. April 10, 2015. April 10, 2015. About two months away from the anticipated arrival of our first little one, and on the eve of our first of two baby showers, I feel reflective on one overwhelming fact: being a gay second mom is (already) hard. 8221; and occasionally the ill-conceived, “do you know the donor? I understand curiosity. I appreciate the acknowledgement that lesbians can have babies because… science! Being a second gay mom is hard because people don’t take ...

Irreverent Mommy
Who made history being polite? Hey, come and check me out at www.irreverentmommy.com. I've abandoned Blogger in favour of WordPress! Well, Statler and Waldorf left this afternoon. All survived, but I am not able to elaborate just yet. This is actually about Jon and Kate - watching other people's dysfunction apparently makes me feel better when I'm wallowing in the mouldy cheese that is my relationship with my parents. Anyway, so this episode was supposed to be "The BIG Announcement". Drum roll please.

Mommy Info, Disclaimer & Agreement. May 10, 2015. May 10, 2015. Last post was October…guess it’s time for a biannual post? What is on my mind is a blog post that was written last year but it only popped into my feed today. I was disgusted. I’m hesitant to even put a link to it, but I suppose I should – just as a frame of reference. Geez, you feel that way about someone who shares your DNA, I can only imagine what you think when you meet me. Luckily, what what others think of me is none of my business.
