I am sure the reason for the delay in this final post on this blog has much to do with how much I am missing the island. Do I really want to sever that last connection I have to the place that we spent the last 20 months and loved so dearly? From the very beginning of our travels to the island - EARLY AM in the Charlotte airport. We cannot forget our welcome to the island - Hurricane Earl. New life long friends.

As the new year (2012) rolled around it was confirmed that my dear friend Tanya would be returning to the island in February with both of the kiddos. We could not wait. We had met the previous year (her parents are our neighbors at Tradewinds and close friends as well). We had made a close bond when we first met and were very excited to have a repeat this year. The story of our time on the island of St. Maarten. Wednesday, August 24, 2011. The kids enjoyed a late afternoon swim, marsh mellows on the fire and a fun game of yahzee with headlamps and glow necklaces in the tent. The tricky part is getting into the chilly water. I did it - come on - your turn. Tough guy is ready. The waves are almost like in the ocean. Oh, oh cold cold. A creation we found on the beach. Our cozy home while camping. Ready for a fun game. Tents at night are always a fun adventure.

So a thank you for keeping my family safe, island adventures, all the fun surf treks (some successful and some not), all the room to pack many kiddos in and thank you for being instrumental in us exploring the island and seeing all there was to see.
