Costa Rica is a small, mountainous country on the narrow Central American isthmus. It has been a stable and democratic country since 1949 when it abolished its military. Since then, the government and people of Costa Rica have chosen to focus resources on education, social programs and economic development. There are just two seasons: wet (May. - Oct.) and dry (Nov - Apr.). Costa Rica is host to diverse plant and animal life. More than s 850 different bird species can be found in Costa Rica.

This very private rain forest setting includes hundreds of varieties of trees and plants, exotic wild life, and a wonderful climate on a cliff over the ocean. Four ocean view lots and a house are in concession and titled property which can be legally owned by non-Costa Ricans. The infrastructure (roads, bridges, water system with a 16,000 gal. concrete tank) are commonly owned and maintained. Casa Mariposa is a 625 square foot, block construction home with the kitchen and living room open on two sides.

The first seven acres of the Islita Reserve were purchased in 1996 from the Quiroz family who own the local attraction "The Monkey Restaurant and Bar" next to the property. The Quiroz family had farmed the property for many years and then reforested the property with mango, avocado, banana, citrus and cashew trees and returned it to the "wild.". Each property owner in the group received a deed and possession right to a half-acre building site.

Die Vorbereitungen laufen auf Hochtouren, ich habe bereits viele Materialien geschickt bekommen, Unterrichtsvorbereitungen getroffen, Kontakt zu den schwedischen LehrerInnen aufgenommen und vor allem viele Bilder von Österreich und mir selbst in Österreich gesammelt 🙂. Ich freue mich aber schon sehr, wenn ich alles in Schweden auspacken kann!
