Champions in Sixth: June 2015
http://championsinsixth.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. This is my first ever post on my new blog! I am so excited to share what I created for the new school year. Yes, I am already working on things for next year. There is always something to work on. I was inspired by Create. Cook. Teach. On a reward system that April uses in her classroom. You can find her post on rewards here. Talk about motivating our students and then some. On Pinterest about her Reward Binder, I had to make one too! This is such an easy, cheap way to reward stude...

Champions in Sixth: I Spy Game
http://championsinsixth.blogspot.com/2015/07/so-last-weekend-i-was-walking-around.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. So last weekend, I was walking around our very large Farmers Market we have here in Salt Lake City, and I stumbled upon a lady named Kanani selling some awesome things. Once I saw what she had made, I had to blog about it to all of the teachers out there. Her business is called Vinylicious Designs. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Class Birthday Poster Freebie. Raising Rigor and Readers: Brown Girl Dreaming Book Review
http://www.raisingrigorandreaders.com/2015/07/brown-girl-dreaming-book-review.html
Brown Girl Dreaming Book Review. The title captured my attention, and the story captured my heart. Readers experience the coming of age of the author, and the complexities of growing up between the Jim Crow south and hope in New York. The poetic form gives snippets into Woodson's childhood and journey as an emerging writer. The book is divided into five parts that bring to life key moments, events, and dreams of Ms. Jaqueline Woodson. Ranches out to a new and very different. Are like air to me,. When the...

Raising Rigor and Readers: February 2015

Black History Month: Purpose and Progress. Personally, "Black History Month" represents a time of pride and privilege. A time of gratitude and solidarity. It is the month when my dominate identity markers (black American, female, educator) converge in the celebration of my ancestors. As the month comes to an end, there are a few salient thoughts about celebrating the progress and struggle of Black Americans both past and present that I want to discuss (or rant about). Another reflection I have is about t...

Raising Rigor and Readers: June 2014
http://www.raisingrigorandreaders.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
I am linking up with The Teaching Tribune. To introduce myself and get to know so more bloggers. While many teachers are gearing up for summer rest I am preparing to coach beginning teachers who will be teaching in Chicago this summer. It's tough being away from home for seven weeks, but definitely worth it! The energy that teachers bring during the summer is contagious and for me time flies by.almost too fast. (I know it's forbidden to talk about summer flying by as a teacher). Until we meet again.
