BuzzBlog: Generation Me?
http://buzzsawhaircut.blogspot.com/2008/01/generation-me.html
1 Inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love; vanity. 2 Psychoanalysis: erotic gratification derived from admiration of one's own physical or mental attributes, being a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development. -Dictionary.com. Apparently our whole generation is narcissistic. Reading articles about my generation, written by those not a part of it, I wonder about their conclusions. The articles ( Don't Go Blaming Me. I Voted on 'Hot or Not.'. I quote from an episode...

The Wrath of the Raptor. In 1993, Jurassic Park was released. The velociraptor was introduced into pop culture and, as a result, those evil, door opening, conniving, dinosaurs that lived over 65 million years ago forever changed its landscape. More than any other dinosaur, raptors are viewed by the public as the “it” dinosaur. Last year on ICTV’s DP Show, they had a sketch featuring Jake Alinikoff as a human/raptor hybrid http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? The sketch raises the question: Why not a human T-rex?

MY MOON, MY MING. It's a crime you haven't read the new issue of buzzsaw yet . So, the new issue is out. Copies are littered around the Commons and the college. It's the crime/Hurricane Katrina issue. I don't suspect it'll go online until the fall (or later in the summer at least), so you'll want to nab one up like the fast-disappearing print periodical it is. -APF. Striving in Greater Hopes. Catch a show if you’re in the area. You won’t be disappointed. -Jackie McBrien. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Advertising: Charlie Brown floats, other ads sink. Well, the Super Bowl is over; dreams of eternal undefeated glory crushed, unlikely dumped-on has-beens celebrated (Petty or Manning, you decide! And of course shiny newfangled things pressed on the public. For those who are like me (gay? The Super Bowl is good for one thing and one thing only. . . commercials! Offspring of a George Saunders short story. Many people have already posted their best-of, worst-of lists, including Slate's Seth Stevenson. And C...

With the new Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse records coming out in March, we want to make sure our man Ted gets his proper due for. Living with the Living. Scheduled to release March 20. The new album's on the internet, and it's dang good. I haven't quite gotten into the whole thing yet, but from a cursory listen it sounds like TL decided spread the love around and make a song for every genre. Plus there's a tune about. Which looks freakin' tasty as hell. Here's a link to one notable track,. Ithaca College'...

Chapter 3: A video we didn't take . . . In stark contrast to the now succeeding grainy concert video footage, here is a superbly done music video of what is, in my fragile and ever-so flippant opinion, the best freaking song ever. Of Montreal's new album is good. No, it's gooder than good, it's gouda. Here's a quick review. By a current Buzzsaw writer. Look for a full write-up in the next issue. Hey, remember when we promised videos from our last concert? Buzzsaw Takes to the Streets. So what to do?

From Nablus: Supermen are angry, too. You must be Superman to be a real man in Palestine. You must use all your senses 24-hours a day in order to stay. You must hear the gunfire, then the screams that fade away. You must see the blood, again and again, and still see red. You must hold the barbwires in your hand and smile for the elderly woman trying to bypass the Israeli checkpoint. You must smell the teargas and cry as if there aren't enough tears in this "Holy Land'. Still Saed is one of those Palestin...

Doomed to Repeat: Dying Breed - Print Media
http://allegoryofhistory.blogspot.com/2009/03/dying-breed-print-media.html
Sunday, March 1, 2009. Dying Breed - Print Media. I have two friends in the newspaper business. I know I can count on both for good conversation and bits of hilarious self-deprecation. Lately, things aren't looking good for the industry. The internet has left print newspapers behind. Things are so bad that my buddy described working for the paper as "I feel like we're all on the deck of the Titanic, admiring the pretty icebergs." I recently read this article. In the Washington Post by David Simon. You No...

Doomed to Repeat: What was it Like? - In the Trenches of World War I.
http://allegoryofhistory.blogspot.com/2009/02/what-was-it-like-in-trenches-of-world.html
Thursday, February 19, 2009. What was it Like? In the Trenches of World War I. That really interested me was the trench warfare from World War I. Set to be the "War to end All War", World War I had its share of new weaponry teamed up with old school (Napoleonic War Era) war strategy, which led to a slaughterhouse of young men that were in search of an adventure they never expected to be so dreadful and deadly. What must life have been like in the trenches? Labels: What Was It Like? World War I Trenches.
