17th October 1949 to 20th October 2014. There have been many summers: the best days of our lives . . . . Memory fades and conflates, confuses and eliminates. But they were there. Once. A poor, demented soul forgets his joy, lost in the melting synapses that used to hold his being. You have to believe it was, like those long-kept photos of a long-gone age. Some things you remember, some things you forget. But they were there. Effin’ cancer, stealer of dreams! Old friends I shall not see again in this world.

17th October 1949 to 20th October 2014. Intrahepatic cholangiocarsinoma with metastasis (cancer of the bile duct which spread in the liver and elsewhere). Rare form of aggressive cancer difficult to diagnose. Late diagnosis. Inoperable by time of diagnosis. Treatment available: palliative only at the stage presented. Main treatment by chemo: Cisplatin and Gemcitabine. Only complaint is delays along the way if it was delay, not a judgement call?
