Sunday, March 29, 2015. Not been out for 3 days so I got to Raggalds Flood this morning at 0900 hrs. It must have rained with a vengeance over night because the field was half full of water, pity there was just a Lapwing and a Pied Wagtail present. Probably the most unusual find today was a bunch of 5 Greenfinch perched on the topmost tree by the side of the road. This is a very scarce bird up here, so it was good to see them perform and hear them call and sing. Shibden Head did produce a Dipper. Courtes...

Saturday, August 01, 2015. Soil Hill 0930 hrs, met a local resident who told me he'd seen a SEO twice in a week; I had a search but it wasn't to be today. Grey Heron, 3 Mistle Thrush, Kestrel, 3 Blackbird, 2 LBBG 1 BHG, 4 Skylark, c170 Lapwing, 2 Meadow Pipit, few Swallow. Ogden Res 7 LBBG, 3 Common Gull in with the BHG crowd. 2 Cormorant, 3 GCG, 3 WW, Nuthcatch, Kestrel. 3 very vocal Sparrowhawk. Getting soaking wet complimented the frustration of the 'wish I'd never seen it' bird. Family Coat of Arms.

Swallows gathering on a roof ready for off. 3 Kestrel, c18 Linnet. A single Pipit that behaved like a Tree but distance factor makes for inconclusive id. Song Thrush, Dipper, Grey Wagtail. Thurs 13th Soil Hill to Mixenden. Lets get the latter out of the way first, it was unbearably quiet: 5 Canada leaving as I arrived, 2 Linnet, 6 Pied Wagtail.

During the day the weather was rather Queensbury like with plenty of wind but we still got some birds in. It was stimulating too when encountering waders not seen in a while and having to sort 'em out at a distance. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. No rhyme nor reason to birding and this stinking weather: I passed though Oats Royd again and it was jumping with birdsong this time. I went down Rocks Lane and crossed the stream via the stone bridge c200 metres below the reservoir embankment - 1 Dipper, WW, Goldfinch, 2 Linnet. Then a different Dipper in the stream skirting the white house at Brookhouse. Up the track alongside the GC from here - 1 Whitethroat, pr of Whinchat. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). An overcast start to the morning but the sun was soon out as we headed out of the village in a different direction today.We went to the NW side which took us below Harden Moor, but we started along the bottom road in the direction of Harden seeing House Sparrow,House Martin,Goldfinch. More Goldfinch, Wren,Blue. A couple of Flyover flocks of Canadas. Then just as we were leaving a couple of Willow Warblers. Which rounded off the birding off nicely. BH and LBB Gulls. Saturday, 28 February 2015. Saturday 28th February am. From Leeshaw we followed on to Leeming Reservoir where there were some brighter spells in between the drizzle with the temperature edging up to 6°C.Here we saw Pied and Grey Wagtail. In the overflow area, the water was quiet with just Mallard. A couple of Canadas. Other Canadas could be heard above us but not seen till later from the road. BH Gulls.
