This entry was posted on December 9, 2014, in Religistuff. Today’s Gospel reading. Most people tend to have their major turnarounds when they’ve been at their lowest. John the Baptist was baptizing people in the desert. Just think about that for a second – amid a desert where there is so little, he found a river to baptize the grungiest most unsavory people of society. This Advent season I started to read Made to Crave. Pray on it. Stressed? Give it to God. Lonely? Talk to the Lord. You know what? If it ...

This entry was posted on November 5, 2014, in Religistuff. I was feeling really down this morning when I saw the election results, and noticed Missourians voted to hold the governor personally liable for budget deficits and to hold people’s past crimes against them when facing sentencing for a new crime. How are people so vengeful! It’s really sad. His talking about going against the tide of popular culture to live our lives in a way that won’t lead to ruin really reminded me of these quotes:. This entry was posted on November 3, 2014, in Life in General. I had plans for when I left derby. I was going to read more, play my marimba again, reach out to friends more, get enough sleep, and go back to grad school! Well, I haven’t been reading more. I haven’t even uncovered my marimba. Sure I’ve been seeing friends more and sleeping like a regular human, but plans to go back to grad school are on hold while this funding thing gets worked out. Who are my real friends? Should I buy a home? My relation...

Making Space for God and Skating Away. This entry was posted on September 25, 2014, in Purly Derby. What does all that equate to? Roller derby had taken over my life. I was scheduling time with my significant other around practice times, around meeting times, around my derby homework times. I wasn’t going to prayer meetings because I had derby. I haven’t been going to the Mass service I like best because of roller derby. My priorities were all out of whack. What do you think? Enter your comment here.

League Rebuilding: How to jumpstart the healing process despite tension and conflict. This entry was posted on September 30, 2014, in Uncategorized. If my league had done this, I’d still be skating.
