Another Retail Christmas: What’s in a break? Farewell Food #2
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/whats-in-break-farewell-food-2.html
Saturday, July 16, 2011. What’s in a break? In the second entry in my CBD fast-food farewell, I decided to visit Oporto and Michel’s Patisserie to celebrate my entertainingly, fun-lovingly abusive friendship with Marcela. She is Colombian, I studied Spanish for three years, and together we swore like troopers and attacked each other’s ethnicity out of love. I assure you, it was out of love. Oporto and Michel’s are the two places that stand out as the locations of our break time shenanigans. Michel’...

Another Retail Christmas: Spotted on the Selling Floor: Kay McGrath
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/spotted-on-selling-floor-kay-mcgrath.html
Friday, July 15, 2011. Spotted on the Selling Floor: Kay McGrath. It is quite clear that I am a journalism nerd. I am easily excited, and in turn panicked, by seeing writers, anchors and reporters or columnists on the shop floor. On Wednesday, however, I managed to serve one…stay conscious AND string together a coherent sentence. The lucky lady was Channel Seven’s Brisbane anchor, Kay McGrath. Regular customers could learn a lot from Kay. 8220;Oh, I’m so sorry! Thanks for taking it off.”. Shop Boy Explai...

Another Retail Christmas: Heard on the Selling Floor
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/heard-on-selling-floor_18.html
Monday, July 18, 2011. Heard on the Selling Floor. Another day, another chance for revenge against idiot customers. In the early stages of the blog, I wrote about my disgust of the one worded question. Today, I was simply asked a question with a solitary letter. Needless to say, I was filled with rage. It was just after we opened this morning and a customer was looking through my sale racks. I opted to continue tidying rather than making idle chitchat. That could have been my downfall. I turned and left.

Another Retail Christmas: Bargain Bin Bonanza: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/bargain-bin-bonanza-rise-and-fall-of.html
Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Bargain Bin Bonanza: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie. In the final post in my Bowie appreciation series I thought it appropriate to look at his 1972 opus, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars…which I am just going to call Ziggy Stardust, as it is most commonly referred to anyway, because I am lazy. This album is five stars and the dust of every star in the galaxy. I love you Bowie, there is nothing more to be said. An open letter to.

Another Retail Christmas: Shop Boy’s Journey of Culinary Expansion: Bender’s Beef Burgers
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/shop-boys-journey-of-culinary-expansion_15.html
Friday, July 15, 2011. Shop Boy’s Journey of Culinary Expansion: Bender’s Beef Burgers. I mean, I REALLY love burgers. There is just something fantastic about picking up a burger with your hands and eating it while juices from the meat and the sauce mingle together and drip off to form a glorious pool on your plate for dipping chips into…as you have to have chips with burgers. Wanting to have a glass of wine (I figured these burgers were a little bit classier and I should step it up from the beer), I opt...

Another Retail Christmas: July 2011
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 22, 2011. An open letter to…retail. I have decided that Another Retail Christmas will be closing its doors after this post. There is something quite poignant about wrapping up my retail career and my blog about despising it, at the same time. It has taken 150 posts (yay…cracked a milestone), and three months.to the day (another milestone! But I have gotten there. Labels: An open letter to. What’s in a break? The final stop on my farewell tour was also one of my most guilty pleasures. I never...

Another Retail Christmas: Being 24: Getting a haircut…from a professional
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/being-24-getting-haircutfrom.html
Thursday, July 21, 2011. Being 24: Getting a haircut…from a professional. I was right, being 24 helped me start my career. Life begins at 24, not 40. Now that I have gotten my start, I have decided that I need to start doing things a bit more professionally. To celebrate my last week in retail, and because I was well overdue for one, I decided to get my haircut. Now while to most people, this isn’t out of the ordinary, I haven’t had my haircut, by a hairdresser, in a good 12 years. Awkwardly I told her I...

Another Retail Christmas: Shop Boy’s Journey of Culinary Expansion: Cob Dip
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/shop-boys-journey-of-culinary-expansion_19.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Shop Boy’s Journey of Culinary Expansion: Cob Dip. Now I understand that the premise behind this column is to expand my culinary horizons. Cob Dip probably isn’t the most culinary of dishes, however I have not made one before and as such, making one constitutes me expanding on my current culinary skill set. And it is simple to make. It may not have expanded my culinary horizons very far, but it was an absolute hit. Labels: Shop Boys Journey of Culinary Expansion. An open letter to.

Another Retail Christmas: What’s in a break? Farewell Food #3
http://anotherretailxmas.blogspot.com/2011/07/whats-in-break-farewell-food-3.html
Monday, July 18, 2011. What’s in a break? Today I decided it was time to farewell Torts. My trip today, however was sadly lacking its heart. I was missing my usual companion Hannah. You see, Hannah was the one who first introduced me to Torts; she is also the one that hired me for my current position…and is now one of my closest friends. This makes me sad. It was a wonderful albeit lonely lunch…I think I’ll need a do over when Hannah gets back. Until then, I will be sad. Labels: What’s in a break? Heard ...
