Tuesday, April 17, 2007. The site that gives us this image of Cupid and Psyche reminds us that most of the mythical stories of lovers and tragedy come from Ovid. The story of Cupid and Psyche is an exception because it comes from Apuleius. Labels: Cupid and Psyche by Antonio Canova. Barbara's Blog: Apuleius
http://barbarasblog213spring.blogspot.com/2007/04/apuleius.html
Friday, April 13, 2007. It appears that Apuleius was found worthy enough to be pictured on an ancient coin of some kind. This was a Parisian coin found in a Swedish Queen's collection. I like Apuleius' Address to the Reader at the beginning of. In just two short paragraphs he tells us so much about himself. First he admits and allows for some who might not like stories in which humans change to animals. Next he uses some humor, if not humility telling us that this "queer novel" is for our ears only.

The Foundations of Lit. are in Fact Classical!: Only Five Lines???
http://cassiclampitt.blogspot.com/2007/04/only-five-lines.html
The Foundations of Lit. are in Fact Classical! Monday, April 2, 2007. How is a person who has been asked to read the entire book of The Metamorphoses of Ovid supposed to pick and choose and narrow down 550 pages full of words into just five lines? Well, since we were asked.I chose my five lines from my favorite story, Pyramus and Thisbe. I let you be the first who would arrive. O all you lions with your liars beneath. This cliff, come now, and with your fierce jaws feast. Upon my wretched guts!
