I Was Told There Would Be No Math: March 2009

I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Today after Mass the Marrieds Group at church had its annual Easter egg hunt. After the eggs were all found (within minutes, of course), everyone adjourned to the playground across the street for cupcakes and juice boxes. Caetlin had a red cupcake. She enjoyed the frosting first. With the spoils of the egg hunt. Then smiled at me after finishing. It's awesome watching her eat a cupcake.

I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Thursday, January 29, 2009. Caetlin Released from Hospital! These Stories, and Your Morning Weather, Just Ahead. We are all so grateful to be home. This week has been so surreal. Thanks to all for your kind wishes and comments and prayers. They have meant a lot.]. But most of all what I am grateful for is that Caetlin is well, and can go home and run and play like she wants to. I have to offer my sincere thank...

I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Tuesday, May 5, 2009. A scattering of random facts and anecdotes from the No Math house:. My thrush appears to have cleared up, thank goodness. I'm still on medication for it, as is Phoebe, but it's kind of how you take antibiotics long after you stop being sick- it's still working even though the symptoms are all gone. And frankly the symptoms were what I really cared about. That shit. Going to be shown up, and l...

I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Tuesday, June 9, 2009. So today, Phoebe rolled over for the first time. We both missed it. I was in my room, getting dressed after a shower. Bruce was in the kitchen getting something to eat. He had put Phoebe on the floor on her back in her play gym. When he came back into the living room- so I'm told- she was on her tummy. Ever was. Caetlin. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Yeah, It's Been Awhile. Anyway, it was a good da...

I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Saturday, April 25, 2009. Where a yeast infection as people are familiar with it is more annoying than anything- itchy, mostly- thrush on my nipples and in my milk ducts is turning out to be. So I'm pumping- as much as I can stand to, anyway- and dumping again. Yippee. Did I mention this is extremely painful? I hope this clears up soon. Jeez. I wish we could catch a break! Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Wakes up in th...

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Wednesday, August 18, 2010. 5k Row - Time Trial. Well, in addition to catching up on my blogging - I have been trying to get back to exercising on a regular basis. Today at Crossfit was a 5k rowing time trial. The good news - my time was 24:20.5 - a PR. The bad news - somehow got a blister after the first 800 meters. Made the last 4200 meters a bit more painful than they needed to be. Note to self - tie shoes tighter when rowing. Links to this post. Tuesday, August 17, 2010.

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Snowshoe the Bear - February 6, 2010. So it has a been a long while - hoping to get back into the blogging groove. So I will skip straight from early December 2009 to early February 2010. So this year's inaugural event was a snow shoe race up in Big Bear at the beginning of February. I have never gone snow shoeing - but figured, how hard can it be to snowshoe a 5k at 7,000 feet? I did not take pictures (although I thought about it) - mainly becaus...

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Return to Razorback Ridge. Today's MWTR catch-up was Razorback repeats - from Kersting's Court up to Razorback Ridge, back. Rest and then to the top of Carter and back. As I started slowly jogging (would love to say running, but think my slow trudge is too slow to say running) up Baldwin, I realized I had not been to Razorback ridge for a very long time. And that lead me to recall the very first time I ever tackled razor back ridge. My last memory of ...

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Monday, July 12, 2010. Conquer the Bear Part III - Kayak. So it was I headed back to Big Bear for kayaking - event number three in the serious. I thought this would be easier than the snow shoeing and the mountain biking, so I was looking forward to it. My extensive kayaking experience consists of - don't blink or you'll miss it - an REI class and an adventure race back in September 2008. Who needs to know how to paddle anyway? A view of the lake from the finish area.).

Ending Location: Alexandria, Virginia. But from there we were off to the Jersey Shore to a little diner called Mustache Bill's. Yes, we drove to the Jersey Shore for diner food. Hey, we were on a road trip. And we were not disappointed. Then it was back to Virginia via D.C. to the end of our trip. Until the next adventure . . . Starting Lo...

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Thursday, May 6, 2010. And don't seem to be able to get out. I definately have goals and things I want to accomplish. But keep putting them off - one day at a time. I was on a roll in many ways. Eating well, exercising, feeling stronger and better. Then came vacation and other obligations. All good things - but getting me further out of any routine. Came back to be a course setter for the LAOC orienteering event. Then getting Dave off on the PCT and San Diego. Run a day there.

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Saturday, May 30, 2009. Ice House Canyon (Memorial Day 2009). So our next hike was Ice House Canyon - up near Mt. Baldy. The hike to the saddle is 7.2 miles and about a 2600 foot climb up. The trail starts by a stream, which had a surprising amount of water in it. From there it is up the steep switch backs . . . and up . . .and up . . . We only suffered one real injury - Kary decided to do the splits in the loose rock -. All in all it was a fun hike! The Thing Speaks For Itself). Friday, November 27, 2009. Thanksgiving is always a time of reflection, a time to be grateful for all the blessings we have. The past year has been filled with fun times and some low times. But in the end, we must choose to focus on the good, not the bad. This Thanksgiving started off at the Run for the Hungry 5k and the experience represented so much of what I have to be grateful for - in no particular order:. Fifth - I am grateful for the "Red Militia". It was about pushin...

The Thing Speaks For Itself). Friday, February 25, 2011. Hit crossfit today in the morning. A change for me. Today's challenge was Grace: 30 clean and jerks as fast as you can. Although Eric was sure to stress form first, over speed and that using a light weight for speed also defeated the purpose. I last did grace in September. I finished in about 6:57 with a 60lb load. A fun way to start a Friday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). First Bike Ride of 2011. View my complete profile.

I Was Told There Would Be No Math
I Was Told There Would Be No Math. Oh, I wish I lived in the land of cotton.oh, wait. I do. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. I realized this weekend that I need to raise the seat on Caetlin's bicycle. And that she doesn't need the stepstool to brush her teeth anymore. She was a really good girl today at school, so I let her stay up a few extra minutes and watch a little bit of "Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey! We went with Coach Jackson to the gym because none of the other coaches were there yet.". Mommy...
I was told to get a hobby!
Wednesday, May 1, 2013. A Cape for all Seasons. I have had the Oliver and S Forest Path Cape. For awhile, but with it being summer I had no desire to make it despite having the perfect fabric and buttons. A couple of weeks ago, wanting something quick, I decided to give it a go. It is a size 3T, but lengthened to a 4T, I probably could have sized down a bit in the width, but at least it should fit next year. The perks of a small kid. Tuesday, April 2, 2013. I thought it would be a bit cheesy if I made my...
