Wheat Seed: February 2006
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 26, 2006. People in my life. My life is full of people - after all, ministry is a "people" business. While there are some people who seem bent on making my life difficult, I honestly have to say that most of the people in my life bring joy in one form or another. My children are joy. To have them all living and learning in the same place right now is a delightful serendipity (is that redundant? Stefanie, Chris, Ian - you make me smile, even when you're not here! Bobby G. Wheat. The conne...

Wheat Seed: Discipleship
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2007/03/discipleship.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. I’ve been doing a little reading on the word disciple and its use in the New Testament. Discipleship, for many Christians, has been squeezed into a tiny box and put away on the back shelf of the mind.

Wheat Seed: Influence
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2006/09/influence.html
Monday, September 25, 2006. It is a fairly common observation that, after several years of marriage, a husband and wife will tend to act and think like one another. It’s even possible for one or both to abandon radically different points of view in favor of a shift toward “middle ground” in political, economic or moral thinking. That’s not really surprising. We expect for one partner to have some influence on the other, for each person to be influenced by that intimate relationship. Light radiates into t...

Wheat Seed: Speaking of Texas...
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2006/08/speaking-of-texas.html
Thursday, August 24, 2006. To add insult to injury, Steve recounted the conversation before the church when he made the announcements before worship service on Sunday. whereupon Terry, when he came up to lead the first prayer, muttered something like, "let's pray the river continues to run." Such ignorance! But what can you expect when you get this far north? Oh, the word for the day is: whereupon. (further proof that Texans are not ignorant rednecks.). Have a good 'un, ya'll! Bobby G. Wheat.

Wheat Seed: Adopted for Life
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2007/02/adopted-for-life.html
Sunday, February 04, 2007. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! In 2003, my wife’s sister and her family traveled to. And returned with an addition to their family – a delightful little boy. His Chinese name is Feng (pronounced fong. They began immediately to teach him, ...

Wheat Seed: July 2006
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 15, 2006. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:27. Can that really happen? In fact, the clear teaching of God’s word is that religion is all about what we do, regardless of how we feel! Don’t believe me? Looking for a religious experience? Try worshipping God because you love and adore him, and then go out and lend someone a helping hand. Bobby G. Wheat.

Wheat Seed: April 2006
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 01, 2006. Poke at the Giant. I write a weekly article (at least, I do. Weeks) for the church bulletin. It always seems like current events provide something to focus on for writing - current news, current church issues, etc. Sometimes, I really get fired up about something, as I did over all the nonsense and speculation surrounding Matthew Winkler's murder. Below is what I did. Finally, I find the whole presentation offensive in light of its apparent intent to demonstrate that Matthew Win...

Wheat Seed: God Provides
http://wheatseed.blogspot.com/2007/02/god-provides.html
Wednesday, February 21, 2007. God will provide for himself…. Have you ever taken notice, as you were reading through the Bible, of how God makes use of people? God used Noah to preserve humanity and demonstrate his concern for right living. He used Abraham to build a nation and establish a covenant relationship that would bless all mankind. He used Moses to lead that nation out of captivity and toward the land of promise. Impressive work in God’s kingdom. Have you ever taken note of Bezalel and Oholiab?
