passionately pensive: My writing lately
http://kleinbeck.blogspot.com/2014/04/my-writing-lately.html
One of the great losses I experienced in graduate school was the loss of time to write creatively, for the love of beautiful words, for the joy of sharing sacred moments. For the lone subscribers still out there and creepers hoping to learn more about Alaina Kleinbeck, you can read my newer writings at Faith and Leadership. I write about material practices in the church, cultivating cultures of hospitality and nurturing young leaders in the church. While my audience is clearly those engaged in life i...

I'll give you a shiny nickel. Embrace the Burn →. November 13, 2012. A bit of housekeeping, first. Despite the somewhat dire tone of my last entry, I did not, in fact, die of food poisoning. Or glass consumption. Huzzah. Was my immediate thought. The kiss of death. Some is a little vague.]. Do you think the potatoes are done? I kept asking Sarah, 2 minutes and 4 minutes and 6 minutes after I had dumped them in the pot. This week’s synchroblog topic was maxims. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

I'll give you a shiny nickel. Newer posts →. This Is Not About Hate. June 26, 2012. When our new synchroblogging topic was announced, I thought:. This will be easy. There are. Of things I hate. Spiders, spider crickets, cockroaches, house millipedes, and every other manner of nasty creepy crawly that invades my house and wages war with me. In fact, something with far too many legs for comfort scuttled across my desk when I sat down to write and has so far evaded its final squishing. If we want to get eve...

passionately pensive: crisis
http://kleinbeck.blogspot.com/2008/05/crisis.html
Aside from cyclones, earthquakes, wars, and politics, there are still mountains of depressing news. A depressive economy. An unhealthy population. A global food crisis. I can choose to ignore wars that happen across the oceans. The same with cyclones and earthquakes. I can turn my nose up at the unhealthy. I can hoard my savings little by little as I can when I can. But I can't choose not to eat. Food is for nourishment and it should be respected as so. Related posts on culture. Love your blog as well!

passionately pensive: a lover not a quitter
http://kleinbeck.blogspot.com/2006/09/lover-not-quitter.html
A lover not a quitter. As I ran this evening, I realized that there was something familiar in the air. We hit mile 7 and I felt perseverance in my stride. We were running a familiar trail. I’d been there numerous times before and the memories had never recurred. But there they were, sitting in my mind begging to be recounted. As I nearly finished, the sun was gleaming off of the lake into my eye and an old favorite song played on my headphones. I smiled. Related posts on faith. I here write when I have i...

passionately pensive: new friends, old friends, basic friends, deep friends

New friends, old friends, basic friends, deep friends. She just makes me laugh. Her voice impersonations. Her satire and her simple joy in giving. He always makes me think of the days when I didn't have a car payment and didn't ever want to be told I couldn't. He didn't hold it against me. Still doesn't. She put up with my adolescent rants and stuck by me through many tears. She lives far away, but she's always on my mind. She does so much and loves to care. Her heart gives my heart peace. I keep thinkin...
