John in Japan on the JET Programme
The Adventures of J-Hat: December 2009
http://j-hat.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
The Adventures of J-Hat. John in Japan on the JET Programme. Posted by John Nguyen. To me, "Christmas" means spending time with family. It means eating a Christmas dinner of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, veggies, and cranberry sauce. It means opening presents on New Years Eve after dinner. It means being in that all-encompassing festive atmosphere during the Christmas holidays and having warm memories of Christmas from my childhood. This being my first Christmas in Japan (I was in Vietnam.

The Adventures of J-Hat. John in Japan on the JET Programme. Bringing Halloween To Japan. Posted by John Nguyen. Instant ghost costume. It kept slipping and wasn't very easy to wear, so taking my laziness to new heights I took off the bed sheet, bundled it in my arms and said "I'm a ghost but it won't stay on," when I was asked what I was, which was still good enough to receive the candy! I had fooled the system. Ah, who knows, maybe I am still a kid. The Old Man Of Nikoroyama. Posted by John Nguyen.
Ocean, Sand... Tioman : The Adventures of J-Hat
http://j-hat.blogspot.com/2010/05/ocean-sand-tioman.html
The Adventures of J-Hat. John in Japan on the JET Programme. Ocean, Sand. Tioman. Posted by John Nguyen. Malaysia’s island life is worlds apart from the city life. Time moves at a different pace, there’s no rush, and everything is quieter and more laid-back. I experienced the same thing when I visited the outlying islands in Hong Kong. The contrast between Kowloon and Lamma, Singapore and Tioman is indescribable. Yubetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. Ocean, Sand. Tioman. To The Equator: Singapore.
Sunayu & Kusshie : The Adventures of J-Hat
http://j-hat.blogspot.com/2009/07/sunayu-kusshi.html
The Adventures of J-Hat. John in Japan on the JET Programme. Posted by John Nguyen. It's at a place called Sunayu, which means "hot sand", on the shore of Lake Kussharo, part of Akan National Park. Lake Kussharo is another caldera lake (like Lake Toya. We went there to see the local mascot, a loch ness-ish monster called Kusshi. Apparently there have been sightings of Kusshi in the lake, but most Japanese claim it was just a large trout. The truth? Yubetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. Team Marimo Adventures In Akan!

The Adventures of J-Hat. John in Japan on the JET Programme. Posted by John Nguyen. In a last-ditch attempt to experience Winter before it - and I - leave Japan I revisited Fukiage onsen, the small mountain onsen I went to last year. For a short weekend of snowshoeing. Build a snow cave, and not just any snow cave, a Snow Grotto! These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. Yubetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. for the glory of his name: February 2007

For the glory of his name. Tuesday, February 20, 2007. I have been tagged in a game I was not aware I was a part of, but since I'm such a sport I'll play too. What I can gather is that people who are tagged make a random list up to five.or something like that. So I will make a list. Here I go. Things I'm looking forward to about going home:. 2) going to church, singing to and worshiping God from the heart with many other people and just soaking for a while. I know even in saying it'll be nice being aroun...

Ohayo Ohayo. New Jersey. I'm new here. Photos, for those that don’t like to read. Lo, Visitors from the Americalands…. October 19, 2009, 2:42 am. I suppose some of this may read as a shameless self-promotion to get friends and family to come out and visit, which it kind of is. Kat and Laura surely recognized the value in having a good friend living in remote Japan. When else are you going to have a tour guide built into a friend in one of the more accessible, yet less traveled, parts of the world?

The first thing I did when I arrived in Sapporo was to go to Starbucks. I proceeded to go to Starbucks, the same one at that, another four times while I was there. I preferred my Vivace and Stumptown there, granted I had many places to choose from in the city that made coffee cool. Here, not so much. Hey, a Starbucks is better than nothing. I hadn’...

I HIGHLY recommend it (although this would be a bit tough if you don’t have someone that can sign at least somewhat decently). Even if you can’t sign, you can get the gist of things. For the glory of his name. Friday, December 29, 2006. But none-the-less I thought I would share some Christmas memories with all of you that I did not get to share in the yultide with in Canada this year. Of course there were all my little Japanese-Israelite children speaking poorly accented English. We did the Christmas story play in two towns, so we had performances on back to back days, which was quite hectic. ANDOH WOW. I'M ON A JAPANESE FRIEND'S COMPUTER AND I JUST ACCIDENTLY HIT SOME SORT OF CA...

Life gets in the way, without even trying, and you tend to neglect your writing duties. Oops. So to reconcile, I’ll use my favorite tool the list! Went to Thailand for three weeks over winter break. (No, this will not be the last thing I say about that trip). Prepped for said trip. Mid-Year Conference. This ...

Well the elementary students were not ones to be stood up by the junior high school’s bunkasai and had one of their own. I don’t go to the elementary school on a regular basis so I didn’t get to see the students prepare for this festival, but after seeing the final product I so wish I had. The cuteness factor was through the roof. Then they moved into their skit. Glory, t...
