For a while now, I’ve always wanted to learn character animation and improve my abilities as a motion designer. During my time at VFS, I was taught to use the duik tool. As explained to be one of the best plugin for character animating in After Effects. To really understand the timing and understand the human body movement a little better, I bought a book called The Animator Survival’s Kit. Which made things a lot easier to understand about key poses and timing. Design / Animation: Jonathan Lai.

This was an assignment for Cinema 4D class that I had in VFS. The idea was to create a style frame and experiment with the functions inside C4D; lighting, camera, texturing, and basic modeling. I created a low poly environment and a simplified tank. Camera work and touch up with Photoshop gave these images a dynamic look. Back to all projects. Recall – Sun Yat-Sen Documentary. RECALL – SUN YAT-SEN DOCUMENTARY TEASER. Reasons for doing this. We felt that a lot of the newer generation are not aware of the history of Sun Yat-Sen and his huge role that impacted China to become what it is today. There are numerous Sun Yat-Sen statues in Canada and in the world. There is also several Sun Yat-Sen Garden, but who is he? And why should we care? This was a learning process for the team to rediscover the history that is almost forgotten by many people.

This is a GUI concept that I had a pleasure working on as a personal project and learning through Ash’s class. Ever since I had worked on UI stuff for Homeworld, it got me pretty intrigued about the beauty of UI design. The Void is a way to store and gather information while displaying basic visual information for the characters and audiences of the film. It had to follow a few rule: spherical, complex yet beautiful, layers and alien like. Back to all projects.
