This table compares the openaltimeter's features with other DLG electronics that I know about. I've tried to make it as fair as possible, but given that I designed the openaltimeter, you should probably take it with a pinch of salt! It was made in November 2010. If it's now after that, things might have moved on :-). In-situ altitude readout (*2). 19 x 12.5mm. 1) The How-high can log a small number of altitude readings on user command, but doesn't log periodically.

This is the latest version of the combined downloader/firmware upgrader app. Windows is fully supported and this version has had the most testing. The installer contains everything you need. Run it, and then you'll find openaltimeter in your start menu. Openaltimeter win 2.1.0.0.exe. You might find that you need to install the FTDI drivers for the serial dongle manually before it will show up in the OA serial port menu. If so, you can download the drivers from here. Repülőmodellek: Openaltimeter
http://repulomodellek.blogspot.com/2011/01/openaltimeter.html
January 29, 2011.

This page describes how to use the openaltimeter. It assumes that you're using a non-modified build of the firmware and downloader. These instructions are current for downloader version V2.1, which comes with firmware version V8. As soon as the beeping stops the unit will automatically start logging. If you just want to use the unit as a logging altimeter then there's nothing else to do. The digit zero is outputted as a short double-beep. You'll know it when you hear it. The board isn't powered by the do...

http://openaltimeter.org/buy.html
I am not currently making openaltimeters for sale. But thanks to the wonders of open-source they are available to buy as Atlantic Thermal Accessories. Have started producing units for sale. At the time of writing, these altimeters were being built by the same assembly company as I was using when I used to make them, so should be essentially identical.

The openaltimeter is a small, lightweight, low-power logging altimeter with an optional built-in LiPo regulator and a very loud beeper! It's aimed at radio-controlled glider pilots, particularly DLG fliers, but because the firmware is open-source it can be customised completely for other applications. The openaltimeter was designed as a low-cost "do everything" piece of electronics for discus-launched gliders (DLG). Feature highlights:. Is freely available under an open-source licence. The board has been...

Rebuilding the firmware for the openaltimeter is really easy. On this page you'll learn how to set up the Arduino development environment and how to hack the firmware code. If you don't believe me when I say it's easy then check out the following video where I customise the firmware in minutes. You need to do two things before you can start hacking the firmware: connect to the openaltimeter with the serial dongle, and install/setup the arduino enviroment. Follow the procedure on the instructions. Anyone ...
