Duck Diary Redux

Thursday, June 29, 2017. Duck Diary 2017 III. The past couple of days have been uneventful. This is vacation time so that is good. Predicted weather has gone north and south of us as if we are in a protected bubble. It was a little freaky watching the ominous clouds approach and pass in front of and behind the house and blue skies appear overhead. On the other hand this is the first time I can remember being a little chilly. It is the result of a cold front the passed yesterday, dry but windy. There were...

Duck Diary Redux: July 2015

http://jackmegill.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Saturday, July 11, 2015. My brain is pretty mushy at this point in the vacation, but I’m going to try to remember some recent events and impressions. I talked about Jim and Jo returning to OBX after a several year absence and I also touched on the history they have with this vacation. Jim collects shot glasses. When we travel together he is usually on the lookout for one to commemorate the trip. Jim combined those interests to offer a premeditated and touching toastmaster moment. Kirby went in up to her ...

Duck Diary Redux: June 2013

http://jackmegill.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 28, 2013. Duck Diary: This is the End for 2013, Probably. By this time tomorrow Heather, Steve, Chloe, and Connor will be here. Based on limited past experience they will drive overnight so the kids can sleep and arrive in the wee hours. I will therefore have better things to do than write this drivel. I will also be in full vacation mode and lack the ambition to pound away at the keyboard of my MacBook Air. I like it because it is a therapeutic exercise for my arthritic knee. I thought a go...

Duck Diary Redux: June 2014

http://jackmegill.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 26, 2014. Day 5: How long can this go on? Day 5: How long can this go on? Usually by the time family arrives the Duck Diary is done. Mostly because there is the pleasant distraction of people running around wanting to do things that require my participation from tuning the TV to going to the beach. In the past I had a week to decompress into the blob know as Vacation Jack by then. This year the timing is different and my decompression is overlapping with arrivals. There has always been a t...

Duck Diary Redux: June 2015

http://jackmegill.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. The Stefan’s arrived at about 6 AM after working all day and driving all night. The important thing is they are here. Also, Heather wants a Mimosa so Steve had to go down to Tommy’s to get a bottle of Prosecco and orange juice. Many of us enjoyed those Mimosas and some of us (me) really needed a nap due to that and lack of sleep the night before. I hesitate to call it a room but it can be made private and it has a TV. In fact, there are TVs in almost every room. The water also run...

Duck Diary Redux: Feeling It

http://jackmegill.blogspot.com/2015/07/feeling-it-every-since-all-day-storm-of.html

Wednesday, July 1, 2015. The weather has been just about perfect ever since the all day storm of Saturday ended. Maybe a tad warm, but that’s easy to cope with at the beach, especially with a pool close at hand. The water temperature changes with the wind here in OBX and today the wind was favorable and the water was in the mid-70s. The bright summer sun cranked up the air temperature early and my kids love the beach. We each prepared ourselves as needed to face these delightful elements of sun and sea.

Jack Megaw | Jack Megaw: The Blog

Jack Megaw: The Blog. Just before leaving to meet a friend for coffee a UPS truck showed up at my door with a brown box. Inside the brown box was a new clamp for my GoPro HD Hero camera which uses a suction cup that can be mounted onto any flat surface. Excited I ran upstairs grabbed the GoPro and like a seven year old on Christmas wanting to play with his new toy tore open the box, attached the camera to the mount and then ran outside and attached it to the front of the car. Send to Email Address. Sorry...

PRICE LIST BY SIZE. PRICE LIST BY SIZE. Pastel Splendor - Naples Pier. This is a 35 minute exposure under a full moon. While experimenting with various timed exposures this final abstract image renders color film as black and white with extreme contrast. The pelicans were fast asleep. An evening storm in the background gave off this colorful array of light to the city dock. The sun slipped through the holes in the clouds to reflect off the water. A magic moment. Myth As Metaphor | Symbols in Myth, Art and Dream

Symbols in Myth, Art and Dream. Posted January 25, 2016 by jackmeier. Information is factual — this is this and that is that. Knowledge is categorical — this is this but not that. Wisdom is metaphorical — this is this and also that. So myths and metaphors are now considered by many as equivalent to lies. How then can one refer to them as ‘wisdom’? Wisdom is neither a question of belief nor of knowledge, but of the agreement of our thinking with the primordial images of the unconscious. How many things ar...
