Speaking to those who wish to gain splendour. Saying that he is their enemy and that they will have to defeat him first. He began his teaching career at St. Joseph's College in Belfast and then took up take writing up after he met Derek Mahon and Michael Longly, under the guidance of Philip Hobsbaum.
