Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure: September 2008
http://capnjackon66.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure. Thursday, September 25, 2008. Flying a San Francisco Bay Tour. It's been a long time since I posted anything here, but a recent comment about the San Francisco Bay Tour inspired me. If you are arriving by air instead of departing PAO or SQL, you need to contact Norcal on an appropriate frequency and request a bay tour. My understanding is that you may be given a higher altitude in that case. Posted by capnjack96934 at 2:32 PM. View my complete profile. Day 15 Part Two: ...

C-182Q N96934 at West Valley Flying Club. Thursday, November 30, 2006. The plane is ready. Phil sent me these sneak peek pictures today. Check them out on my Picasa web album. I am meeting my friend Brad at the airport tomorrow at 9:00. We will fly down in his 182, also recently painted. Brad needs some IFR approaches, so we will do a couple at SNS and then one more at SMX. N96934 should be on its tiedown at PAO by sunset. Posted by capnjack96934 @ 8:08 PM. Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure: July 2007
http://capnjackon66.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Chicago, IL (PWK) to Birmingham, AL (BHM). 654 statute miles (568 nm). Time enroute: 6:33 (including a 65 minute food and fuel stop). Flying IFR out of Chicago meant waiting while they fit us in to the busy area traffic. While holding at the run-up, we saw this classic B-17 arrive. I think today's flight was the most challenging of the trip so far. It got the juices flowing but never crossed the line to anxiety-inducing. Sunday, July 29, 2007.

C-182Q N96934 at West Valley Flying Club. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Annual complete, flying without Garmin 530. The annual was completed on 6/14 and I brought the plane back to PAO. I am happy to say that it went much more smoothly this year. There were no significant issues at all. As a reminder, the plane is blocked out for my summer travel from 7/16 to 8/5. Another member will be taking 934 on vacation from 8/6 to 8/19. Posted by capnjack96934 @ 11:41 AM. Thursday, June 07, 2007. I apologize to regula...

C-182Q N96934 at West Valley Flying Club. Tuesday, May 08, 2007. Aluminum Overcast: B-17 Flight Experience. Last week I treated myself to a once-in-lifetime-experience. I rode in Aluminum Overcast, a restored B-17G. That is operated by EAA, the Experimental Aircraft Association. I took along my trusty Canon PowerShot A95. Check out the QuickTime movie I created. You can also see some of the pictures in my Picassa Web Album. Posted by capnjack96934 @ 2:03 PM. View my complete profile. My Route 66 Adventure.

Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure: August 2007
http://capnjackon66.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Captain Jack's Route 66 Adventure. Saturday, August 11, 2007. Looking back on my performance during my flights over 13 days, I decided it would be good to summarize some of the errors I made. They say you learn from your mistakes, but that's not quite true. I believe you can learn from your mistakes if you examine them. Hopefully, others can learn from my mistakes as well. Have the charts and info you need at hand. Electrical equipment off before starting engine. Taking off from Evanston, WY (EVW). In my...

C-182Q N96934 at West Valley Flying Club. Monday, July 16, 2007. 96934 is now WAAS capable. It's been a few weeks, so here is an update on the plane. The upgraded Garmin 530W was installed at the end of June. There was one minor hiccup, the COM 2 antenna connection was lost during installation. That has been restored. Everything is working now. With everything shipshape, I'm taking the plane on a 17-day trip. The heart of the trip is my Route 66 flight that you can read about in my other blog. Aluminum O...

C-182Q N96934 at West Valley Flying Club. Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Updates are in the works. I apologize for falling behind on this blog. I've been distracted, apparently for longer than I realized. I'm in the process now of trying to get some fresh information here. I'm also working to address some suggestions I have received that should help CFIs and general members get familiar with the plane's unique configuration and reap the full benefit of its features when they train or fly.
