After the meeting… | Jack the Wood Carver's Blog
https://jackthecarver.wordpress.com/2009/01/28/after-the-meeting
Jack the Wood Carver’s Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. After the meeting…. January 28, 2009. We just had our weekly meeting Tuesday evening and I must say it was a lively bunch. There were 3, count them… 3 new and not-so-new folks at the meeting. One gentleman, Harold Moore, was one of our founding members back in the early 90’s. Also, Nichole and Vic joined our merry band of wood chippers. Photo by Bill Brown. We’d love for you to stop by for a visit. Until next time. Jack. Newer post →. You ar...

Jack the Wood Carver’s Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. September 16, 2009. Well… my work shop is all ready to go. As a matter of fact is open for business! I have begun to produce carvings in it already. I’ve made some small hat pen and vest pen fish which some of you have seen. I plan on carving all of the fish then painting them at the same time using Polytranspar lacquer paints from WASCO taxidermy supply. I’ll soon post pictures of the process on our website. All for now…. Newer post →.

Jack the Wood Carver’s Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Ethics in Wood Carving. February 10, 2009. I’ve considered the issue of carving ethics for some time, actually since the beginning of my carving career. One question which comes up from time to time is: What are the ethics involved in regards to copying another carvers patterns or carving, photograph, etc? Most carving magazines and how-to books have patterns which the expectaion. Shows such as our Artistry in Wood, places such as Charlotte,...

I’ll try to keep politics out of the equation today… okay, I tried. The moronic debacle going on in Washington these days has had a positive effect, though negative on my bank account. We were furloughed as well, but don’t have the same covering as the Feds. Website. The update should be ready to go online in a couple of weeks.

Jack's Top Tracks - Archive. Gigs and Clubs and Festivals. Wednesday, 7 December 2016. Sam Baker asks if the electro swing can play a similar role in combatting toxic politics as the original sound. As we envelop ourselves in the re-creation of a genre long thought dead, reviving fashions, songs, and slang, it’s brutally important that we do not ignore the deeper meanings and the historical parallels, as well as the differences between our world and those of ages past. Now, we face a wave of democratic n...
I like turtles! - School Is Cool
Old man turned his bald head as he heard a loud puddle splash. Ldquo;Ni- Nic- Nice to meet you.” said slowly the approach, taking deep breaths after every word. The elder looked closely with the side of his eye. Seeing people in strange costumes wasn’t a strange thing at all, but a costume covered in pure bronze. Ldquo; It’s not carnival, y’know? Rdquo; he asked with no feeling in his voice. Ldquo;I missed my train.”. Two pairs of boots with satisfaction heard the snow creak. Ldquo;I - I can’t”. In throug...

Jack the Wood Carver’s Blog. Just another WordPress.com weblog. January 18, 2017. Carving Clubs… who needs them? I have given this some thought over the past few months as our local club went through a tough time. We lost some key members who were dear to us and to be quite frank we have gone through a period of mourning. Being a fairly small, group of close knit individuals we would meet every two weeks at a local store for the past ten years. That my friend IS what it’s all about. October 17, 2013.
