Choosing Papua New Guinea. Brian and Ray helping the guys with a building project. All in all, there are benefits and drawbacks to living in town. We enjoy the running water and electricity as well as the huge market, but we miss the interaction we have with our PNG family. Fortunately, Yall village is not too far away! Choosing Papua New Guinea. Monday, May 18, 2015. Practice does not make perfect. So in an effort to make this experience edifying, I've been reflecting on how I do this in my own life. Where do I forge ahead thinking I've mastered something, when I should be pulling back and taking it note by note? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow the blog by email. Choosing Papua New Guinea: February 2015
http://brianandhannahparis.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Choosing Papua New Guinea. Monday, February 2, 2015. Lessons from a singing snail. Enjoying the first, waiting "patiently" for the second. Since my thoughts of late have been so tunnel vision on the timing of this birth, I thought I'd explain the process of having a baby in Australia and (excuse? So what goes into the paperwork? Have patience, have patience. Don't be in such a hurry. When you get impatient, you only start to worry. Remember, remember, that God is patient too. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Choosing Papua New Guinea: Getting involved
http://brianandhannahparis.blogspot.com/p/how-to-give.html
Choosing Papua New Guinea. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! We are able to live and work in Papua New Guinea because people and churches here at home have come alongside us financially. If you would like to give financially, checks...

Choosing Papua New Guinea: June 2015
http://brianandhannahparis.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Choosing Papua New Guinea. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. I was scared and lost heart, but when I collected my head I realized I wasn't dead.". Outside and down the steps to punch the restart button. when the dog is barking, the toddler is whining, and the baby is crying because she pooped out of her diaper onto me. Complain and maybe some tears. How can I hope to encourage and strengthen her faith when my own faith that God is good collides with the reality of a fallen and broken world? And in another language?

Choosing Papua New Guinea: These agonizing choices
http://brianandhannahparis.blogspot.com/2015/04/these-agonizing-choices.html
Choosing Papua New Guinea. Thursday, April 30, 2015. The walls of the buildings are colorful, the grass is a rich green, and the playground looks out onto the moody ocean and a street lined with coconut palms. The international school looks pleasant enough from the outside, but is ultimately an unknown. Just one more unknown in the mountain of unknowns looming in our children's educational future. Do we send her to the international school? And my head hurts. Not so much. Are we willing to risk that?

Choosing Papua New Guinea. Picture of Yall village. Brian preaching during a recent visit. During our orientation and training to PNG, we were assigned to a family in Yall village. We spent five weeks living with them, learning about the culture and language of PNG. The first day we met our "waspapa" and "wasmama" (adopted mother and father) we clicked right away. They gave us a warm and loving reception despite the enormous amount of cultural stress all four of us were feeling. Morning in the village.
