Jacob Devera's Blog. May 10, 2013. Completing an activity like this again would be fun, because I would never be assigned to write about my experiences with a Flash game in any other class, let alone a history class. May 2, 2013. Life in the Trenches: A Story. Reflecting back on the war, I must admit life in the trenches was horrifying. Conditions were terrible, with a bitter, cold winter and a tremendously hot summer. To my horror, he came in contact with a land mine a few meters away. The last I sa...

WWI Song | Jacob Devera's Blog
https://kefkiroth.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/wwi-song
Jacob Devera's Blog. April 17, 2013. This song is called “Your King and Country Want You.”. This song starts off by describing how young men have been known for playing various sports. They are then requested to take part in war. They are reassured that they will be missed and wanted if they go to war, and that they will be given thanks if they successfully return home. Jacob Devera's Blog. April 17, 2013. 8220;Dulce et Decorum Est” by Wilfred Owen. The line I found the most powerful in this poem is “If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues” because it gives a gritty picture of what could happen to a young man in war. Jacob Devera's Blog. May 2, 2013. The second exhibit I explored was “WWI All-Stars.” The Inter-Allied Games of 1919 was a competition held to strengthen the bonds of WWI Allied soldiers after the war. Though they were competitive, cultural borders were broken down as the players became more unified. Other than the Inter-Allied Games, the exhibit also featured American athletes who served in the war too, showcasing rare wartime athletic gear. Laquo; Previous post. Next post ». Jacob Devera's Blog. April 14, 2013. The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand – Gavrilo Princip’s POV. June 28, 1914 was surely my lucky day. Franz Ferdinand was warned not to go to Sarajevo because of us, the Black Hand, but he went anyway! Fortunately, his failure also proved to give us an advantage, as Franz Ferdinand then wanted to visit the bomb victims at the local hospital. The driver then took a wrong turn into a street where I had happened to be standing! Newer Posts ». Life in the Trenches: A Story.
