The torch rest is designed with magnets embedded under a waxed leather cradle. Built to hold a Smith Little Torch . Lathed and milled bronze, titanium, leather, wax, magnets. A tool used by letterpress operators to gauge the roller pressure on type. Using this ensures the type doesn't get 'muddy' while printing. Lathed to 0.918 to match type height. Stainless steel with bubinga handle. Threaded head for easy cleaning. Stainless steel with hardened O1 tool steel centre.

Memory of the Present. Like the debris field at a crash site and the subsequent airplane reconstruction, what I find compelling at these sites of extreme fragmentation is our utopian belief in the power of our technology to reclaim what has been lost. My photographic exploration of these reconstructions is an attempt to engage with these artifacts and sites, not bound by fictitious narratives cynically presented for tourist consumption, and with the contemporary sense of pathos they evoke.
