The aloe is such a famously well known South African plant. Anyone who has travelled the roads of South Africa will see these beautiful ‘soldiers’ on the sides of mountains and when they flower around June , it just adds a gorgeous brightness of joy to the otherwise dull hue of winter. This piece was inspired by a friend of mine who owned a coffee shop in a garden nursery on the outskirts of White River. She had a connection with owls that was like something out of a story book…. If you look closely, you will see that you are looking at a cup of tea in a saucer! When we got together for a cup of tea, there was never a moment of silence.
