The Scarlet Macaw is the Honduran National Bird. It also was the Sacred Bird of the Mayan. They are very colorful, and noisy. They are a Protected Species of bird, with severe penalties if caught trying to take back to your home country. So remember not to put one in your 'carry-on'. I know it can be tempting. Things to Do and Remember. Here are a few 'Packing Thoughts' that we have learned on our trips to Roatan. There are a few mosquito's on the beaches, not of any real consequence. 'Skeeters' are deterred by any product that has 'Deet' in it. However, at West Bay Beach, there is a daily 'fogging' to eliminate most of them.
